Have had this unit now for more than 6 months and has worked flawlessly.

Shipped fast. These are great quality and the fingerprint reader is so much better than the one on my Wyze safe. I love having it my Jeep ready to go.

Vaultek tries to make this safe versatile for multiple scenarios but instead renders it virtually useless in all of them.1. The Home Use FailuresThis was one of the only new ViSN models available on Amazon; the rest require direct purchase. I was excited to test it out since I’ve been waiting months for Vaultek to upgrade all their vaults to this new WiFi standard. Unfortunately, this was the only model I could easily get my hands on, and it failed for both home and vehicle use.Let’s start with the home setup issues:Mandatory bolting – If you don’t bolt this thing down, it won’t stay in place. No ifs, ands, or buts. So, have fun drilling into your furniture just to make it functional.Power limitations – Comes with an absurdly short USB-C power cable, which you’ll likely need to replace. Even worse, there’s no built-in rechargeable battery. Instead, it guzzles 4x AA batteries at a time, forcing you into an endless cycle of battery replacements. A rechargeable option would have made far more sense.Storage capacity – The slide-out tray is okay but should extend further. A full-size handgun barely fits, and if your firearm has a beavertail or an 8.5" slide, forget it—you’re out of luck. There’s also no room for optics or any real accessories.Fingerprint reader issues – It’s picky, with limited angles for scanning. You’ll need to program it exactly as you plan to use it; otherwise, good luck getting it to unlock in an emergency. No remote buttons – At this price point, they should be included. The ridiculous app limitations – They don’t tell you upfront that the app only supports five safes total. Want to transfer fingerprints between safes? That’ll cost you $5/month. A subscription for a safe—seriously? At the same price, a simple drawer or desktop safe (even from Vaultek’s VT or MX line) would be a better, more practical choice. Why deal with this hassle? It makes zero sense.2. Completely Useless for Vehicle UseEvery issue from the home setup is even worse in a vehicle.Short power cable – Even shorter when trying to reach your car’s charger port. Oh, and no car charger included—you’ll have to buy that yourself. No built-in battery management – I don’t suspect it draws much power, but over time, it could drain your car battery. Hope your vehicle has a battery monitor.WiFi monitoring is a joke – The ViSN WiFi feature is meant to monitor and notify you of vault events. But here’s the thing: it needs WiFi—which exists at home, not in your car.So when you drive away, there goes your WiFi connection. But hey, it can switch to Bluetooth, right? Wrong. Bluetooth isn't supported on the WiFi model. and Real-time alerts and monitoring isn't supported on the Bluetooth model. Who designs this stuff... really?Maybe it can connect to your phone’s hotspot? Sure—if you want to manually reconnect it every time, because it only remembers one WiFi network. Genius.Mounting issues – You’ll need to buy a separate mount for vehicle use. Bad idea, though—if a passenger pushes their seat back, I guarantee they’ll bend the mount.Legal concerns – Depending on your state, you may need a license to carry if the gun is accessible to the driver. If you already have one, you don’t need this safe—just store your gun in a secure spot. Personally, I use my car’s “gun holder” (or as the manufacturer incorrectly calls it, a cup holder). For places where I can’t carry a firearm, I use a simple VT drawer model in my trunk, which easily fits a Desert Eagle with accessories and the holster. It’s cheaper, larger, and actually useful. So what’s the point of this thing? Built for everything, good for nothing. Hard pass.Final Warning: Only Buy Vaultek Through AmazonVaultek’s direct distribution, customer support, and return policies are awful. None of my local safe dealers carry more than one model (probably the RS800), which tells you everything about how overpriced and underwhelming their products are.If you buy direct and realize you hate it (like I did), good luck returning it. Stick with Amazon for easy returns.

This gun vault sits next to my bed and is bolted to a leg of my headboard; our grandkids might find it but they are not getting into it. I found the fingerprint recognition to be a little finicky at first but after reprogramming, it works fine. The numerical keypad has never failed and, of course there's always the key as a last resort. I use the Vaultek 2.0 Bluetooth app to monitor and adjust the settings but have the remote unlock feature disabled. It is also nano key capable if you desire to use one. In summary, it isn't the cheapest gun vault available but it is secure and reliable.

Look, it's a great idea.... HOWEVER, the biometrics are very unreliable, like it takes a few tries most times to get it to read my fingerprint and sometimes it just doesn't. For that reason I bought the Nano Key, a paired button that allows you to open the safe and it works instantly EVERY time - MUCH more consistent than the biometrics. If I hear someone in our home I will use the Nano Key to retrieve my firearm. If I knew then what I know now, I would PROBABLY still buy this safe but only because of the Nano Key. I'm comfortable that if needed I can get to my secured pistol quickly using the Nano Key (sold separately).I have a larger biometric gun safe, different brand and not a slider, but that biometric safe opens the first time every time... Vaultek needs to improve the biometric opening to 100% every time.

Easy installation, either side and programming simple with very good instructions A little pricey but with every dollar highly recommended!!

The quality is solid and was easy to mount, set up code, and biometric scan feature. Now the cons: it’s a very tight fit for a G19.5 with X300 and Holosun 509T or my P365 Macro w/EPS carry. And my full size HK VP9 w/RMR & TLR7 needs to be angled at 45 to fit. And if running an RDS the slider doesn’t open up enough to clear the top of the safe without hitting the RDS. So you need to angle the firearm out as you remove it from the safe, you cannot pull the firearm straight up to remove it. So for a nightstand safe I’m a little disappointed in the lack of space, but if you're not running a dot the safe is solid and why rating is a 4 star.

I purchased this safe for use in my vehicle. Reviews seemed fine and others seemed to have success. Overall the build quality of this safe seems good, the biometric system took several saved prints per finger to really work effectively but after a little effort it would open right up. I returned my safe because of pistol fitment issues. I tried 4 of my full sized vehicle pistol configurations and none of them worked effectively. If you're planning on running a dot sight and flashlight this safe will not work. I even tried my G17 with TRL-1 and low profile Leupold Micro dot, this fit in but would get hung up bad when retrieval was attempted. If the pistol compartment was enlarged 1-1.5" I think this could be useful. This safe is intended to be placed behind a seat or mounted to something, there's no reason why the manufacturer decided to make a tiny pistol slot. If they make an actual full sized slider pistol safe I may give Vaultek another chance.
