Vegvisir Wayfinder Coin - Bronze
The Vegvísir Guides the Way Through the Storm

The Vegvísir, or Norse compass, is an Icelandic magical stave, which, according to the Huld manuscript, protects one from losing their way in bad weather. The vikings used the word "hafvilla" or "bewildered" which means to have no sense of direction or be lost at sea. We created this coin to help guide us through modern moments of hafvilla. This wayfinder will help guide the holder through the rough journey of life. Use it to find the correct path to travel. Encircling the Vegvísir is the runic transliteration of the Icelandic phrase, "Ég stoppar ekki Þegar Þreyttur, ég stoppar Þegar ég er búinn", which translates to, "I do not stop when tired, I stop when done."
The solid bronze coin is struck with an incuse design, in which the letters are lowered rather than raised. This way the lettering will stay dark even if the coin is carried daily.

This is about as big as a us 50 cent coin. It is heavy too! I gave this as a gift and I'm very happy I did.

I have purchased a few of the Shire Mint coins and love them all. This is the one I carry in my pocket every day. It doubles as a worry coin and a reminder to stay focused. Whenever I feel lost and my thoughts are cloudy, I hold this coin. I am not a mystic. I believe the power that comes from an object is the power we give it. For this coin, it's a symbolic compass to remind me of what important. 1st off.... Had no idea what the meaning behind this was but I like to flip a coin in certain cases. I bought this and did a little bit of research on Vegvisir. Turns out I've been in an awakening and have been noticing my spirit guide and my numbers as well... Been on a life changing journey the past year and was directed to a better place and a better mindThis coin is awesome. But double sided is identical so not a flip of a coin but will be carried on me now at all timesI landed up buying a 3 faces of Death coin which has an amazing meaning. On a dollar coin size and great for my decision making!

gorgeously detailed, weighty, and well struck bronze coin with excellent packagingAwesome history behind the vegvísir.Great tactile feel for fidgeting or sleight of hand practice (would be a good gift for any aspiring magician).Also great as a tabletop-gaming / Dungeons & Dragons prop for those who play with a grid or miniatures as it can be used as a cool looking arcane or teleportation circle or magical area of a floor!Overall: a superb gift for any history nerd.
