Wasn't expecting too much at this price, but was pleasantly surprised. Wanted something small to lock my wheel and complement my u lock. This fits the bill. The build quality is good, the chain is heavy, but not too much so. On its own, probably not going to stop a determined thief, but good added inconvenience. Combination lock has a nice positive click to it, so you know the numbers are lined up. This is about middle of the road in terms of price, but decent value for money I'd say. Would recommend.

This lock is the close cousin of another one I own from the same brand—except this one trades the key for a number combo, which is a lifesaver if you tend to misplace keys. Just like the keyed version, it’s solid, well-built, and looks tough enough to deter any opportunistic thieves. Now, no lock is completely unbreakable, but for everyday use—quick stops at the store, locking up in busy areas—it’s more than up to the task. The combination dial is smooth and easy to use, with no annoying jams or sticking. As for the length? Just right—compact enough to carry around without hassle but still long enough to lock up securely. All in all, another solid offering from Via Velo.

Everything about this bike lock seems chunky and reassuringly strong, yet it does not feel that heavy, which is often the downside of being chunky and strong. The chain is covered with a strong man-made cloth material that minimises metal on metal contact and the risk of scratching paintwork. The all-important lock mechanism is metal, has a 5-digit combination that operates with a reassuringly secure movement, each number clicking into place as it rotates, and the mechanism to change the combination is simple yet secure and can only be changed when the lock is open. It is more expensive than similar locks, though.

This is perfect for my BMX bike, it's soft protection also protects paint work being scratched and it's a heavy duty thick sized bike lock with 5 digit resetable security code so it's ideal or day to day bike security or keeping it locked up securely at work or overnight. It's not overly heavy to carry and is a good quality lock from a good brand, ideal for scooters and bikes , also the colour matches my bike 😁

Not heavy so very portable in a backpack. Robust and solid so will deter opportunistic thieves.

After recently purchasing bike locks from both Via Velo and Sportneer, I would have to say I recommend the Sportneer because of cost and length. While this Via Velo is only 3’ for $19.99, the Sportneer is 4’ for $16.14. They are similar in the outer protective fabric sleeve, the lock mechanism, and resetting the code. Sportneer also included recommended maintenance instructions. Even though this Via Velo is a heavy duty well operating lock, I prefer the Sportneer based on length and cost.

This was very easy to set the combination and it's a good size to lock up both my preschoolers' scooters when we're not using them. It's thick and heavy enough to deter someone who would cut a smaller lock in my neighborhood. Would order again.

The item delivered was just as described and photographed. The instructions in the description are clear and setting the lock to your desired 5 digits was quite easy to do.The actual length of the chain is 30" from end to end, and the lock hardware adds about 4" to that length. The lock moves from selected digit by half steps. When setting the desired code, the half steps are ignored (code is set at next full step), but when unlocking the selection must be on the exact number and the half steps will not allow the lock to be opened.A safety note: Many of this style of lock can be quickly opened by pulling tight and turning until the selection resists movement - and then you're at the correct number. This lock seems to be high enough quality that as long as you're not just one digit off on your code, then that's not a problem. (With only the last digit incorrect, the lock delivered was easy to solve the last digit - but one should never lock by only changing the last digit, and with other digits changes the code was no longer as obvious.)The fabric around the chain should keep the chain from scratching while locked and does a good job of adding bulk and hiding the quality of the chain. For the price, this appears to be a decent lock as long as you're just using it during the day to slow down a thief, or hopeful that they will pick a different bike. It would not be a good idea to rely on this lock in a high theft area while not attended.

This is a nice durable lock that is easily easy to program to a five digit combination that can be easily changed at any time. The numerical numbers are large and bold print that are easy to see. The five number sequence means there could be up to 100,000 possible codes providing increased prevention from theft. The size is large enough that you could lockone part of the bike to a typical bike rack, or like two bikes together. The fabric around the chain keeps it from scratching or damaging the bike frame. The fabric itself is breathable and suitable for outdoor use.

Looks pretty strong. I bought a blue shade for my son’s bike. I like the number locking system. Can’t wait to start using it.

I had been using the cable lock as shown in the first photo and it was OK but felt like I was wrestling an animal to get it thru my E-bike and around a stationary object. I came across this Via Velo Bike Chain Lock, 5-Digit Resettable Combination Heavy Duty Anti-Theft Bicycle Lock on Vine and thought I would try it. I like it much better as it so much easier to feed thru about any object to lock the bike securely. The heavy duty chain is covered in polypropylene soft cloth fabric and it extremely easy to manipulate around just about anything. In the 2nd and 3rd photos attached you can see the bike is securely attached to a post. The combination is easy to spin to unlock it. Setting the combination is very easy using the provided instructions. I store my lock under a small cargo net inside a milk crate that is on the rear of my bike. I did not give this lock 5 stars simply because the one provided to test is only 2.95 feet in length. I would prefer a unit that is a tad longer for even easier locking around stationary objects.

This is an attractive, simple bike lock that's only long enough to secure one bike to your typical bike rack. While sturdy enough to discourage cutting, it's still light enough to not feel like you're being weighed down, as least at this price point. While I have another similar lock, this one is a bit nicer as the lock code area is easier to turn due to finger divots around each number, making it much easier to manipulate than my other lock of similar price and quality. So, this may be a good option for those with weaker fingers or arthritis, at least compared to similar locks. The lock comes preset with a 00000 password and you just rotate a knob on the inside end of the lock to reset the password to your desired number of five digits. The blue color looks nice. Overall a good deal for what you get at the price.

The Via Velo Bike Chain Lock seems solid and well-built, so I expect it to be durable. This is a chain-based locking system, which means it is heavier than other types of locks (for example, a U-lock). However, it is more secure since it takes two cuts to defeat a chain lock. It has the advantage of being flexible, something lacking in U-locks. The chain links are thick (6 mm) but not as thick as the most secure bike chains (10 mm). The lock is large and heavy-duty. The numbers are easy to read, and the combination setting is straightforward. The length is good, but you may need something longer than 3 feet, depending on your bike size. The protective cloth sleeve is excellent since it protects your bike from getting scratched. Overall, this is an excellent medium-duty bike locking system.
