I have used many different sticks over the years. These are great for jazz or other playing that requires lower volume and good articulation on the ride cymbal. I have played a venue that has a stage with terrible acoustic properties where even a quiet ride can take up a lot of sonic bandwidth. After more than 15 years, I have found the AJ6 sticks, which I think are the perfect sticks for this venue.

Fast and easy to control. The small tip really focuses the sound. The AJ3's are slightly larger in diameter than the 7A's, which I liked, but the added diameter size feels better in my hand without adding any overall added weight. Very versatile sticks and fun to play.

je m'attendais à avoir un bout plus fin, en tant que jazz man qui joue dans des clubs parfois exigus, je m'attendais a plus de finesse pour un jeu plus doux. Mais sinon elles sont parfaite !

I have transitioned to faster pop music out of playing punk/rock beats and the sticks I was using were too heavy.I have now tried 3,4 and 5 in the Jazz series. I like the way they are balanced because I can still use the full length of the stick without feeling like I am losing any rebound. These are (as expected) slightly heavier than the Jazz 5 and I like the extra punch. The Jazz 5 is a very light stick compared to the Vater 7a and 7a stretch sticks that I am used to using but the 3 is comparable.

Vic Firth makes quality sticks and these are no exception. They have a great feel and balance. They are about the thickness of a 7A stick, but with a long taper to the tip, which gives the nice balance for jazz or other light-playing situations.
