This is a great door. If you know how to install doors. You may not want to follow their installation procedure. Especially if your hole isn’t plumb.Merchant responds quickly to questions.Iive this door.

Made a thinner steel than I expected. I could live with that, but I ordered this three times. It never once came with hardware, had to return. No option to just send me the hardware. Very frustrating.

These were installed on a condo and are great. They are heavy, i did it by myself but would recommend having someone help with the installation. I ended up not using the adjustable side rails due to the door frame construction. The door has knobs on the hing side that protrude and locks in the upper part of the door in addition to the handle side locks that secure the door. The door comes with its own locking system.

The Good...the door arrived timely, the door seems sturdy and the locking mechanism works smoothly. The quality of the build seems good and it is a reasonable value considering the price. The NOT so good, the door arrived with some minor damage to the bottom corner of the door and door frame. I was able to straighten the bent metal back into shape with some doing. Also, the adjustable rail on the hinge side was about 1/4 of an inch out of position, creating a high point at the top of the frame. With a few love taps I was able to make it flush again. The door kit did not come with Anchor bolts nor an L-wrench that would adjust the expandable rails. I think the instructions said 12mm L-wrench, but we had to go bigger. I bought some 3/8 stainless lag bolts 4" long to anchor it. I thought the expandable frame would be a benefit and make the install easy, but I opted to shim the door in lieu of using the expandable frame. My door frame was not plumb and trying to fit the door using the expandable frames was not practical or visually appealing. You do need to expand the frame to a degree in order for the anchor bolts to be flush with the inside of the frame as not to interfere with the closing of the door.

The door is sturdy and arrived not damaged. One complaint i have is that when the door is installed, the locks don t fully go inside the whole. It seems like is a small gap there. When the door is locked looks fine. But if u lock it and press the handle and pull, is has a little wiggle room because the bolts are not fully in. I asked my contractor why and he said the frame comes pre made and the manufacture created that distance. I will try to add a handle lock to it for nobody to can press the handle and wiggle it. Because if u don t press the handle and wanna push the door, is fine.

Our house has many glass french doors and a glass front door so security is non-existent beyond an alarm system. So I installed this door in place of our hollow core interior bedroom door. The six panel design matched the existing doors well and the door isn't obviously different which we really like. The door was listed as a 30 inch door, but it was very close in size to the 32" door it replaced.I had to widen the rough door opening to accommodate the large steel door frame. I did this by removing one of the 2x4 cripple studs with a Milwaukee multi-tool and replaced that with a 1x4 to gain a little more width. The frame sides of this door expand with bolts to press against the rough opening and then using 1/4"x5" Spax lag bolts I fastened the frame through the studs in six places. This is a really good system once you understand how it works. One important note about the threshold, I test hung the door, then took it back out and laid it on the cardboard it came in so I could access the allen bolts that hold the threshold on from the bottom to remove it for an interior application, so don't permanently install the door if you are not sure if you want the threshold.Painting this door is VERY time consuming with all of the non-removable hardware and tight spaces. I removed all the glued on weather-stripping because this is an interior install. I then sanded every part of the door I could get to with 220. Then I went over the door very thoroughly with deglosser twice to make sure the paint sticks. I chose to brush the door because I wanted to mimic the grain pattern in my other doors vs. a completely smooth spray that the door came with. It came out great, but it was very labor intensive.I looked at many security doors and most of them have thinner sheet-metal, or a cheap locking mechanism, or don't have a strong steel frame (most important part of a security door). While this isn't a vault level door it offers a great easy to use compromise that is a world better than the typical interior door.I hope this helps...

It's the same price I would've had to pay for a plain, unpainted steel door without hardware and without multiple locking points... This is a fantastic product at a great price... It seals tightly, closes perfectly, and locks securely. Pay for a good installer, and read the directions about setting up the keys
