The needle was a sharp with a large enough eye for me to be able to thread, there were various sizes. I seldom sew anymore between arthritis and eye sight so these were much appreciated.

I do embroidery. I ordered these for embroidery specifically - and the littlest size of needles in this selection work perfectly. I would've knocked one star off for the exceptional thickness of the thickest of these needles, but actually, they'd be perfect for cross stitch. Pretty good for what you pay for it.

First let me emphasize the positives:* Large eyes, making them very easy to thread.* Well organized and labeled, in different tubes so very hard to get them mixed up.* seem to be great quality - they are substantial and well made.The cons:These are a LOT thicker than standard sewing needles, and so hard to get through fabric. Even when they do go through, they leave a visible hole behind. In order to better illustrate this, I have attached a photo - the first needle (the one with thread) is an extra long standard hand sewing needle. The others are the needles that came with this order.These needles are NOT suitable for hand sewing or quilting but are suitable for darning, mending knits, tapestry and leather. Also suitable for general crafting where large, thick shafted needles are required.
