The illumination dial is cleanly integrated into the side focus adjustment knob for easy access and streamlined performance. The glass-etched reticle offers shooters highly functional, intuitive, and detailed hold points, yet remains uncluttered for optimal viewing and features 10 intensity levels with off positions between each setting.

This Vortex Viper 5-25x 50 mm PST Gen II scope is excellent! I have another 5-25x Vortex scope and thought I was buying the same one for a new rifle. It turns out the old one was a Vortex Venom rather than a Viper. Both are first focal plain scopes. The Viper is far superior to the Venom!!! The eye relief is much more forgiving on the Viper. The turrets are nicer and the illuminated reticle is also great! The glass also seems to be better even though the Venom is very nice also. The scope tube on the Viper seems much thicker than the Venom, and the Viper is a heavier scope. I was never disappointed with my Venom. It is a nice scope that works very well after lots of rough treatment. The Viper is much nicer and seems more robust. I am pleased with my purchase!!!

This is my 3rd Viper and first Gen II on top of my rifles. It holds zero very nicely on top of a .270 bolt action and after zeroing at 200, the reticle lines (bullet drop and windage in the "Christmas Tree" layout) behaves very predictably by both practical calibration of drop with distance and by a 3rd party app on my phone. Bright image even down to dusk.Recommend the scope for accuracy but it is a bit pricey even for a first focal plane optic.

Purchased this scope with a vortex 34mm QR cantilever mount for a .458 SOCOM on a AR platform. The illuminated reticle is a nice feature but not a game changer, but helps for low light conditions. The scope is fantastic with clarity and ease of use. The zero stop functionally is amazing once zeroed. It took 7 shots to punch paper holes at 100 yards with 250grain Hornady monoflex. A lot of MOA adjustments in scope for variations in caliber. Magnification is very good for a 10x, very crisp and clear. I would recommend this scope for shots ranging from 100 to 300 yards depending on your rifle. Generous eye relief and clarity. The FFP is superb. If you purchase this scope you will be happy with your purchase.

For my Aero Precision M5 308 18" Heavy Barrel with Atlas R-One rail. Mounted on a Nikon Black Mount. This is my first "quality" scope ever and I love it. After tremendous amount of research and trying to decide between this scope, a Nikon FX1000, Nightforce SHV, Tango4 and Burris XTR2 (even tho their Burris AR-536 Prism scope let me down badly, both of them had a canted reticle of 5 degrees or more), I originally went with the FX1000 scope but Opticsplanet screwed up my ordered by first cancelling my order not once but twice, and then purposely removing it from stock so they would not have to honor the 10% discount. Never again with OpticsPlanets. Stay away yall. Stay away!! Anyways, I ended up receiving this scope and yes I ended up crying for once. Upon receiving the scope from "Adventure Lane", the sealed had already been cut open. I think it was a display model at a store or someone must've returned it. I was furious. I was going to send it back but at the last minute, i had a change of heart because of how good the glass was. I was peaking at some apartments approximately 1.1 mile North of my house (verified by Google maps) and was astounding by the clarity and how pronounced the picture was at 15x. I could see people thru their windows and on the balcony, and I could even make out their faces 80% and what they were wearing. I've never looked thru a clearer scope such as a Razor HD Gen 2, Nightforce ATACR, S&B, and etc but I can somewhat assume how better those might be. As I was looking thru my PST gen II 3-15x MRAD FFP at electric towers about 900 yards away, the burgandy paint seemed a bit hazy (not blurry), but could still see the bolts and wires though. I could see how some people could demand a clearer glass but the PST gen 2 is more than enough for my need and the capability of any 308 rounds. I feel like the open center reticle and the clarity scope is clear enough for me to precisely aim at a forehead 1200 yards away. I'm glad I went with this instead of the 5-25x. At 3x, it was like looking thru an invisible window and the eye relief was amazing. 15x is plenty plenty plenty zoom.My only gripe about this scope is that when I turn the illumination on, a tad bit of the numbers are illuminated when it shouldn't be (see pics).. but it's ok though. The clarity and build quality of this scope makes up for it. I also like the turrets of this over the Nightforce SHV and Burris XTRII as I was testing it out at BassPro. The clicks are very pronounced. If I had to do this all over again, I would definitely buy this again. Would I buy another one? Probably not. I would like to have a Razor Gen II HD or Nightforce ATACR but having difficulty justifying spending that much on a scope due to diminishing return. You get the point? Just get this scope and call it a day and be grateful and happy like me :-)

I just bought this scope a week ago and I am blown away by the quality! Super sharp and clear at any range, the EBC-7C MRAD reticle means I won't have to much clicking up for long range, and all the adjustment are smooth and sharp! Another nice feature is the the off detent between illumination settings. Got a brightness you like? No need to dial thru all the settings to get there from off. One click and you are illuminated. One more click and the reticle is back to black! The Viper is built like a tank and is, in my opinion, a great deal for the feature set and quality offered! My only cons? I would love the have flip caps standard (would pay more not to have to order after the fact) and lack of a way to lock the diopter means electrical tape is your friend. I made a small mark with a blue paint pen that lines up with the 0 mark on the barrel as a back up in case it moves. Not pretty but it's solid and the rubber cup on the Defender covers the tape so I won't get any guff from the other guys on the range :)P.S. Throw an anti-cant level on it while you are at it and your groups will thank you!
