I will confess, I am not an expert on all things serial cable. I used mine for some beginner level UART port work on household appliances. It's purely a learning exercise for me.The install is simple and getting the drivers installed is similarly so. The waveshare wiki is great in this regard as the documentation is detailed and clear.Having LED lights signal operation is a nice touch as well.I recommend it to folks with a use-case or those, like me, that just want to learn.

This Waveshare USB to RS232/485 serial cable has been a dependable solution for connecting my computer to various devices. I'm currently using it to connect a DMX cable to my computer via USB, and it works flawlessly, providing consistent and reliable communication. The original FT232RNL chip compatibility with Windows, Linux, Mac, and Android operating systems gives me confidence in its performance. The onboard power and signal indicators are helpful for troubleshooting, and the built-in switch to enable a 120-ohm terminating resistor is a thoughtful and convenient feature. A well-designed and versatile serial communication solution.

Well, there isn't a whole lot to say about this USB-A to RS232/485 serial converter except it seems reasonably well made and works as expected without issues. It's fairly compact and portable although slightly lager versions of this do support more protocols and features but it really depends on your individual needs and requirements.A little screw driver and a USB-A/B extension cable are also provided should you have the need for it (i.e. for tight places where the adapter might not fit properly). Driver might be required (provided on the official website) but it's completely plug'n'play for Win11 without any manual installation or user intervention. It works just fine without issues with YABE (OSS) which is great.≡ ValueAll things considered, this is a decent USB-A to RS232/485 serial converter with built-in 4-pin cable (2 m/6 ft) that seems reasonably well made and works as expected without issues. It's somewhat reasonably priced at $26 for what it provides and its overall build quality, versatility, and performance. You can knock a few bucks off if you care to shop around though.

This device adds a FT232RNL-based 921.6Kbps (max) USB-to-serial port(s) to your Windows/Linux/Mac/Android device. The instructions are very detailed and walk you through everything. Simply search the Waveshare site for "USB to Serial".The device includes an 4-pin serial breakout cable suitable to connect to Arduino/Raspberry Pi or any other type of serial-capable system. Driver installation was effortless on Windows 11. Two new COM ports just show up in device manager, and the driver includes highly-configurable advanced settings like buffer size, timeouts and a ton of other options, too.Check the website for current documentation and software drivers - everything you need is right there and very clearly documented. This USB to RS232/485 serial adapter is highly recommended!
