  • WC-20 GREY 1/8" Tungsten Electrode TIG Welding 10-Pack (2% Ceriated EWCe-2)
  • The electrodes are made by sintering powders and subsequent forging.
  • The type WC-20 Gray consists of 98% tungsten and 2% cerium oxide and is completely radiation-free. WC-20 is a standard electrode for all DC applications. The welding current during AC welding should not exceed about 100 A
  • Tungsten electrodes are used in arc welding with inert gas and tungsten (TIG). Tungsten is used at very high temperatures as it resists melting and degrades very little (if working in a controlled atmosphere with inert gases as is usually the case).

I am pretty new to TIG and have done mostly MIG welding, but these seem to work as well as the samples that came with my welder, I couldn't really tell a difference. Was able to put down a nice weld and had no issues.

As an amateur welder, I’m still getting used to understanding all the technical details, such as the differences between tungsten electrodes. I ordered the MENDELEEV STYLE WC-20 Grey 1/16" Tungsten Electrode TIG Welding 10-Pack mainly because they’re affordable and seemed like a good option to try for my welding on 3/16 inch and quarter inch iron. I was happy with the packaging as the electrodes came neatly stored in a box, so I didn’t have to worry about transferring them somewhere else. The electrodes themselves are smooth and sized evenly, which allowed them to feed through my TIG welder without any issues. I’m still not entirely sure when exactly to use the 2% ceriated type, but I’ve found that they worked fine for what I was welding. I was able to produce welds that I wasn’t embarrassed by, which for me, as a beginner, is a big win. They performed fairly well in terms of arc stability, and I didn’t have too many issues with the electrodes overheating or becoming difficult to manage. One thing I did notice was that the electrodes hold their tip decently well, and they sharpen easily, which is important for me since I sometimes struggle with sticking the tungsten to the project, being new to TIG welding. The price point is also nice because it means I’m not hesitant to replace them when necessary—something that would make me more cautious if I were spending more on high-end electrodes. However, they didn’t seem to provide quite the same level of performance as some of the other electrodes I’ve used, such as those from more established brands or ones with different compositions.Overall, while the MENDELEEV STYLE WC-20 Grey Tungsten Electrodes are decent for the price, they don’t have that extra “wow” factor I’ve experienced with other options. They’re a good choice if you’re starting out or need something inexpensive for basic work, but I’m still on the lookout for something that feels like it can give me a bit more control and consistency for my welds.

I've been adding to the accessories for my TIG welder, and I wanted some ceriated electrodes, so I thought I would give these a try. Excellent choice. These electrodes are well made out of good quality materials. Fit and finish are excellent. Easy to sharpen. Perfect fit. Works very well. Highly recommend. 5 stars.

I like this ten-pack of Grey tungstens from Mendeleev. Good price and the sharpen nicely and easily strike an arc and low amps. I've used them on thin stainless sheet with good results. I would buy these again.

Review of WC-20 GREY 1/16" Tungsten Electrode TIG Welding 10-Pack (2% Ceriated EWCe-2)Key Features:Tungsten Composition:These WC-20 GREY tungsten electrodes contain 2% cerium oxide (Ceriated EWCe-2), offering enhanced arc stability and improved welding performance. Ceriated electrodes are known for their low amperage starting and steady arc, making them suitable for both DC and AC welding applications.Size and Configuration:The electrodes are 1/16" in diameter, making them perfect for precision TIG welding where a fine, controlled arc is needed. This size is commonly used for welding thin materials and in applications requiring a small heat input to prevent distortion.Quantity:The pack includes 10 tungsten electrodes, providing a good value for users who need multiple electrodes for various jobs or ongoing projects. Having a supply of electrodes ensures consistent work without frequent replacements.Versatility:The 2% Ceriated tungsten electrodes are versatile and can be used for various welding tasks, including welding stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and other non-ferrous metals. They are also suitable for automotive, industrial, and DIY welding projects.Grey Color Code:The grey color code is associated with cerium oxide-tungsten electrodes, which are known for their ability to start an arc easily and maintain a stable arc, especially at low currents, making them an excellent choice for welding thin materials.Pros:Improved Arc Stability: The cerium oxide content provides excellent arc stability and starts the arc easily, which is particularly helpful for precision welding and avoiding defects.Low Amperage Performance: These electrodes are ideal for welding thin materials as they perform well at lower amperages, reducing the risk of overheating or distorting the workpiece.Versatile Application: Suitable for a wide range of welding tasks, including stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals, making them a great all-around choice for TIG welding.Durability: The tungsten electrodes are durable and maintain their performance across multiple welding jobs, extending their lifespan.10-Pack Value: A pack of 10 electrodes offers good value, reducing the need for frequent restocking.Cons:Smaller Size: At 1/16" in diameter, these electrodes are best suited for fine and precision welding. They might not be the best choice for heavy-duty welding where higher amperages are required.Limited to TIG Welding: These are TIG welding electrodes and cannot be used for other welding processes, such as MIG or stick welding. Their application is limited to TIG welding machines.Best For:Precision Welding: Ideal for thin material welding (e.g., sheet metal, fine components), where a controlled, small arc is needed.Automotive and Industrial Projects: Perfect for welding stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals in automotive, fabrication, or industrial settings.Light to Medium Duty TIG Welding: Best suited for low amperage applications, such as small components, DIY projects, or repairs.Final Thoughts:The WC-20 GREY 1/16" Tungsten Electrode TIG Welding 10-Pack offers excellent value for TIG welders who need a high-quality electrode for precision, low-amperage welding. The 2% cerium content ensures improved arc stability and easy arc starts, making it a reliable choice for welding thin materials, especially in automotive or industrial applications. While these electrodes are best for low to medium duty work and precision tasks, they are not suitable for heavy-duty welding or high-amperage applications. However, for users looking to work with non-ferrous metals or fine-tune their welding on thinner materials, these electrodes are an excellent option.
