It is soft but I don't care for the rubber end as well as a leather popper. It is heavier than I am used to using. Also, the I used this lunge line in an arena where the barn owner would put the urine soaked shavings from the stalls (not sure why that was done). Once they dried out if the line touched them, they would cling to it like a magnet so that it was a mess and difficult to clean off to put away.
