This bit is not super harsh and my two year old has no issues with it. I feel it fits her mouth better than the standard snaffles

This bit is a great thickness and light. If you prefer it to not rust, just keep it clean and dry and rub a tiny amount of oil on it. No rust on any of my sweet iron bits, including this one.

I've been riding and training all my life. This is a great bit at a great price. It is a sweet iron bit so for all the reviews that said it rusted it's supposed to it's sweet IRON. I use it to soften up my horses. It's a wonderful bit. I use with slobber straps and mecate reins. However, after reading all the reviews prior to purchasing I have to say, a lot of reviewers don't understand the purpose of a sweet iron bit. They are looking for pretty versus function. This bit does create salivation and it is sweet tasting to the horses' mouth. You do not want a horse with a dry mouth.

I was happy with the bit when purchased. It's a nice weight and feel, my horse had no issues with it. However, it has completely rusted within 2 weeks and 3 or 4 uses. I haven't tried to clean it up but can not put it in any horses mouth the way it is. I'm disappointed.

Absolutely loving this bit. My gelding was not entirely happy with the heavy 3 piece dog bone sweet iron snaffle I originally used. He would always chew and pull on the bit. Switched him over to this one and he is a different horse! Still some chewing occasionally but otherwise very soft, supple, and a happier boy!

This is a daily go-to for me. My horse hates single joint snaffles, but she really works well in this. It’s good quality and it must taste alright too, because my horse grabs for it long before I have it in front of her mouth, every time I go to put it in. Great for teaching collection. I will say, just be aware it will change colors very quickly (see photo)- but it hasn’t affected the quality of the bit. I’ve been using it for a year now and will be using it for a long time into the future.

This is a great bit, I used it to start a three year old colt and he took to it quite nicely. I switched him over to a larger snaffle and he didn't respond as well. Switched him back to this bit and he acted so much better. Even though it is on the cheaper side it is great and stands up, used it almost everyday this summer and never seemed to show much wear. The only downside: it is pretty light weight and the rings are pretty big, but it still works.
