I have been using the macroview otoscopes for over a decade and can't imagine going back to the regular ones. I was excited to see an upgrade and was eager to try it out. There are two things I really like about it: the LED light is significantly brighter than the old halogen one and it stays attached to their lithium ion handle much better. Sadly, the focus-free design of the eyepiece greatly diminishes the field of view of the scope. Now you must have your eye or glasses literally touching the eyepiece to see anything. With the previous version your eye could be several inches away and you would still get a great view. In older kids and adults this feature is annoying. In infants and younger children it is nearly unusable.
