Overall, the Wescott FJ80 SE is a GREAT flash - if you're not concerned with how the diffuser dome attaches to the unit, I'd absolutely recommend it. The only problem I have is with the diffuser dome's magnetic attachment.Just bought a second (back-up) FJ80 after happily using my first one for around 2 years, which still works well. Upon opening the new one yesterday, I discovered the magnetic base on my diffuser dome (also Wescott brand - which came with the flash) doesn't stick to the new unit. Unless I'm missing something, it appears to attach only by "twist lock" tabs - although the new dome still has magnets on it.The outer ring on my "old" flash appears to be metal, which works fine with the dome's magnets - but the ring on the new unit appears to be plastic (so much for the magnets working -- and for the record, both new and "old" magnetic domes work perfectly on my "old" unit).The magnetic attachment feature is great for the type of work I do. The twist-lock tab system is not convenient, and a disappointment. Hope I'm missing something here, but it after going over it front-to-back, (including carefully comparing it to my "old" flash) I don't believe I'm missing anything.Anyway, returned the unit and will seek out either a replacement (if this is a defect) or different brand that still uses the magnetic attachment system.
