Not what was expected. When you get the item, BE ABSOLUTELY SURE that you have received the LIS and not the retrofitted AD model.

The WFCO 8735LiS is a converter that has a switch the user can deploy to change from Lead-Acid to Lithium Iron Phosphate battery charge profile. The item sent was the 8735AD, an "Auto Detect" converter that is supposed to automatically detect a lithium iron phosphate battery and apply the correct charge profile. It doesn't work. There's lots of buzz on the internet about it not working and I specifically ordered the Switch model to not have to deal. The vendor did not inform that the AD was the only one available and give an option to cancel the order. As an aside, the WFCO tech team (NOT the vendor Value RV Parts) was helpful in solving the problem by allowing a warranty return on the AutoDetect and exchanging with a modified unit with a "jumper" installed that places into Lithium mode permanently.

You’re not going to get the LIS model. That’s likely a myth though some people said it’s what they got. It isn’t. This isn’t the unit with the manual switch. This is the garbage unit that “auto detects” after you completely discharge your batteries and then forgets it randomly, requiring you to discharge your batteries for it to detect again. Did I mention that to tell what mode it’s in, you have to disassemble it? Yea. It’s that model. Stay away.

This supposedly has an auto-detect feature, but based on what I read, they only tested it with Battle Born brand batteries. My off-brand LifePO4 batteries are never detected as lithium even if I follow the ridiculous instructions that say you have to drain your battery dead and then start charging again before it will detect it as Lithium. This is a horrible electronic design - It would have been 1000% better if they just put a simple Lithium / Lead Acid switch on them. Given they don't detect any of my three different brands of batteries as being Lithium, the charger gets the battery to about 30% a a reasonable rate and then after that it goes into trickle mode and will take a week or more to charge the remaining 70%!
