OEM part with an added fuzzy strip for better sealing (wonder why the new Whirlpool didn’t have that). Learned my lesson to get a spare early before it is discontinued.

My old lint filter had seen better days. The old boy took a big hit when I tried to dry a throw run with a rubberized non-slip coating on the bottom. The heat from the dryer partially melted some of the non-slip gunk and the filter took the brunt of it. I was able to clean it up somewhat and it lasted a few months, butI finally decided it was time to give it a well deserved funeral.This new lint filter fits perfectly and does a great job.

OEM Whirlpool replacement dryer filter arrived as described, fits perfectly, no issues. The newer design has an additional frame support going across the screen which makes more sturdier than the original design.

I was not sure it this would fit the dryer model that we have, since it is an older machine, but I found a site that had replacement parts listed for my machine and I compared it to this one. They were matching numbers. So I ordered it. The shape is not exact but the area that it differs is not relevant. It is a plastic mold around a wire screen. The old lint trap used a softer mesh. The felt sides that keep the lint from passing around the filter are not as thick as the original one. I would have liked them to have stuck out a little more so, to prevent lint from getting past better, but all in all the filter works fine. I am holding on to the old one for awhile...just in case.My 2 cents: If you have never taken your dryer part and vacuumed the inside of it (the parts that you don't see) you should. There are plenty of video out there that will show you how to take apart your dryer. The lint that get past the lint trap over the years accumulates on the motor and the bottom of the dryer. Huge fire hazard. If you are too nervous to take your dryer apart and put it back together have a professional do it. Also never leave your home with the dryer running. While you are at it...your exhaust fans in your bathroom and the coils on you fridge will thank you for a good vacuum as well.

This screen was a PERFECT replacement for the OEM unit. The OEM suffered from heat problems with the gasket, and was hard to clean. This one is on the opposite side by FAR. The felt gasket is holding up (after almost a year!) great where the OEM unit lasted 2 months before starting to peel off. This screen can be cleared by hand and does a GREAT job. I would highly recommend this one as a replacement for the OEM... in fact, I would recommend the manuf use this unit AS the OEM and get rid of that piece o'junk they call a screen.

Replaced the original lint screen that came with our Whirlpool Duet Dryer (Model WGD9400SW) with this one in November 2012. So far it's holding up fine and the felt strip seems to be staying in place. Ordered the part from Appliance Care Store. Prime shipping was fine and quick.So nice not to deal a dangling felt strip or worry about lint getting into the dryer. Perhaps the design issues of this part have been addressed by Whirlpool? If this one fails at least we know where to go to get a decent replacement!Update: July 2014This lint screen is still going strong. Doing it's job and not annoying the heck outta me like the original one! :-)Update: June 2015This lint screen is so much better than the one that came with the dryer. Now thinking this replacement is going to outlast the dryer!

The Kenmore manufacturer product cost 3 times what I paid for this one, and aside from a split down the middle of the screen, it is identical to the original. The middle split does not affect the screen in any way and probably adds durability since the original had no plastic support down the middle.Anyway, the price was excellent, and the product has no flaws. It should last for years. Good purchase.
