Used this device to connect the audio output from a portable record player into the USB port in my laptop. Works well with Audacity software to create mp3s that I transfer to my phone. The mp3 sound quality is very good. It may not please the audio perfectionist, but to record some old vinyl, it well surpassed my expectations.

This is a great way to digitize my old cassette tapes. I have several audio tapes holding traditional songs that are not recorded anywhere else, and nobody can remember them. I was able to use my old audio cassette deck and digitize them, and load them to a shared drive in the cloud for all our relatives to enjoy, no matter how far away they live.

Easy connect between audio device (in my test, a record player) and the PC. The USB drivers should install when you connect the capture device to the PC or laptop. Then you'll need Audacity software (instruction booklet included) to record and edit the music or audio. Finally, you export the audio recording to your PC as a .wav or a .mp3 file for future listening. It is not very difficult at all.The device does was it was intended to do; capture audio from an outside source. It is plug-and-play easy setup. The recording quality will depend on your PC / Laptop sound card. Most built-in cards are 2 channel, 16 bit, and 48 kHz. This capture device captures 2 channels, 24 bits, and 96 kHz.Easy setup and easy use. Recommended :)

Less than two hours ago, I used Wilstar's Audio Capture dongle to record analog audio from a very old family cassette tape onto a digital audio file on my M1 Mini Mac. The digital recording sounds just like the cassette tape which includes my wife as a child with her siblings and cousins singing along and cracking jokes. This is a "lost tape" that I can now share with her family thanks to this Wilstar audio capture.I'm rather new to the Mac computer so this is the first time I recorded audio on my Mac. Connection was made from the cassette deck using an RCA connection to the dongle then to a USB port. I used the included Mac's GarageBand software to make the recording to a digital file. I only had two issues, first the device didn't work on an external USB hub I was using (not enough power?) but it did work through a USB port built into my computer monitor (powered?). Secondly, I had to change input device for the recording. On my Mac the Wilstar USB 2.0 Audio Capture is identified as a "USB PnP Audio Device". Once these two issues were work through...everything else was intuitive for how to convert the analog audio to digital audio.I highly recommend this product. Less than 10 years ago this type of analog to digital device would have cost you anywhere from $100 to $400. At less than $50 now for a device that can capture up to a 96Hz and a 24-bit sampling rate (better than CD quality)...it's a truly remarkable age we live in! You can't go wrong with this device and while not advertised...I don't see anything that would prevent you from using it with Windows 11 and Linux as well as it did on my Mac.

Transferred some oral family history from cassette to my Windows 11 computer. No problems using it. I downloaded and used Audacity audio editing software to record the audio to the PC. It was an inexpensive solution to my project.

Immediately recognized in Windows 10 and tested to carry signal by the 3.5mm "aux" jack.If I remember correctly, 96kHz sample rate should be able to encode frequencies up to 48kHz (Nyquist–Shannon sampling theorem).I did not test the RCA jacks. The packaging tries to position the free, open-source audio software Audacity as a value-add / included-with. This is unscrupulous marketing, but is partly balanced by them actually including a manual primarily devoted to acting as an Audacity quick-start guide. These sort of materials are also widely and freely available online, but some users might find it helpful.

I've been having trouble finding a cost-effective computer adapter to play music. This adapter is able to fill that need without needing a high-end system to function. It's also versatile, as it can work with most CD players or an other mp3 or music player. It's compact and portable to put in most bags. I would highly recommend!

My computer is a little older and even though it has an internal sound card, recording with it always has latency issues. Using a USB sound card is always better. This device is no different and records very well with no perceivable latency between playback and live recording. I’ve used both the miniature phone jack and the RCA inputs, both work very well. One unique feature for this recording device is that it is input only. More often than not USB sound devices tend to be output only… At least for all the ones that I have tried. I am really happy with the input features of this one. since I’m getting into digital amp modeling, it would be nice to figure out how to feed the input into the computer and be able to hear the affected signal through the monitors or through headphones. I have not figured that out yet. I assumed that this is a computer software or driver issue and not with the hardware.USB was easy to install, just plug and play with no drivers to install. Configuration was automatic on an old Windows 10 machine.Holly recommended for some really good quality audio capture
