This actually self feeds twice a day. You don't have to set anything.

Too soon to tell how well it will hold up. I hung it on a mesquite tree pretty low to feed my pigs while we are away for a couple of days. I'm using pelleted all-stock and it seemed to work fine when I tested the flow rate. I took the advice from several other reviewers, from 1 person's review, I bought the 6 volt battery from the hunting section in Walmart without springs, from another person's review I added a deflecter to keep the spread tighter. I used window screen, wrapped around the bucket and bungee'd, works perfect to keep the feed falling in about a 3' wide circle under the feeder.

So far so good been about 5 months and going good, I purchased the solar panel and the battery is always full, the only problem I have is I have it about 10 feet up to keep it out of the bear's reach and it throws the corn to far it spreads it out in a 60 foot circle or more

This turkey feeder was hoisted up about 9ft into a tree so that the racoons and bears will really have to work to get at it. We're hoping for a great turkey hunting season so this should do the trick. Those of you who are just a little mechanical inclined, will have no problem assembling this feeder. Just drill 4 small holes in the bottom of the bucket to later attach the battery and motor assembly. It makes is a lot easier to transport by putting everything in the bucket and taking to your desired spot. Don't forget to take a hammer and pound in the tabs on the lid. That's so those crazy racoons won't try to pry it off. Looking forward to visiting the site in a week or two to check things out.

So I purchased this feeder because a good buddy of mine had something very similar and the aim was to have multiple feeders for a far more cost effective price.I'm impressed with its durability and its price personally. There are three things however that I dont like about this product. The first, its obviously going to be hung so instead of using a standard paint can handle why not a solid metal bar hooked in the center or even a chain? Second, the feeders cap has individual flanges that you press inward to lock it tight, a standard press and lock cap would be far faster and far more convenient, just like a 5 gallon paint can. Third, the feeder can throw! Its tossing corn 15-20' at 6' height no problem. I personally dont like that so I came up with a quick fix. I attached a garbage bag to the feeder and cut the bottom out, now all the corn hits the bag and falls strait down. Furthermore I'm hoping it helps to prevent any water damage in the future. A pillow case may have been better just because of the weight of the fabric and less sound. I'll see what I get on my trail camera and if necessary switch to a black or brown pillow case.Update 06-02-2024 the feeder has finally rusted through the top cap spoiling feed but the motor still works perfectly with NO signs of corrosion! Will be switching it over to a plastic 5 gallon paint can from home depot! Love this thing!

I dont usually write reviews...I have had this feeder in the woods for 4 years. Not seasons... years. I replace the battery at the beginning of the hunting season and it works all season. Its feeds the deer like it should. The raccoons (and there are a lot!) can't get the lid off. Probably one of the best things that I've ever purchased on Amazon... and that's why I'm writing this review.UPDATE...This feeder has been in the woods for 5 years. Last weekend my hunting buddy noticed that it was not working. He brought the feeder to his house, cleaned it, and replaced the corroded alligator clips. I am happy to report that the feeder is back in the woods and throwing corn like a champ!Someday maybe it will die and then I'll gladly purchase another one. Great product - do yourself a favor and get one.

This feeder is a good and economical feeder. The functionality is not a problem, but the features are limited in the price range.Pro:1. Price, it is an economical choice for the cash strapped hunter, unless you want a cheap gravity feeder.2. It is easy to assemble, however your will need to drill a couple of pilot holes.3. It is compact and lightweight.4. I do not lose 120 lbs of corn in one night due to pest like raccoons, turkey's etc.Con:1. The lid is difficult to seal. It is a tab type of lid and requite a screw driver or a tool to open and close.2. The feeder empties in two days on the medium setting, there is no good control for this setting, It would be easier if it was a digital control, but once again the feeder is economical.3. The handle needs an anchor point for the rope. I could buy just the feeder without the bucket and and bought a bucket with a lid from Lowes.4. The battery connection specifically needs to be used with a slim 6 volt wild game innovations battery. I tried another battery and it was too tight.Overall: This feeder is good for an economical choice, but if you have to go fill it every two days it is frustrating. It is better than a gravity feeder because you may have to contend with more wildlife with a gravity feeder. Typically my gravity feeder are damaged by raccoons and emptied by squirrels and birds.
