Received this vice expecting a much lighter and smaller vice. Had a 4" vice already that I had broken due to over tightening. After taking a look and mounting on my bench was extremely pleased with how smoothly it operated and how beefy it was. I doubt I will ever break this one it as it is very heavy duty. The only drawback is possibly that I overhang the vise from my bench to clamp long rods extending to the floor and I have to swivel the vice to one side to get clearance. By no means is that a drawback, only my particular use. I am extremely pleased with the quality of this vice and would recommend it highly.

This is a great bench vise it'll do everything you need it to. I see a lot of people getting elitist about their equipment. really what do you need a vice to do?1) Hold stuff Tightly2) Be tough as nails3) Be easy to use4) provide a spot for hammering the crap out of something5) pivot side to side to create clearance when trying to hold awkward items.This does all of those things without breaking the bank!One note is I didn't get bolts or screws to attache this to the work bench (I bought a returned one so it might have them). but to be safe maybe grab a few 1/4" lag bolts. I had some laying around and it did the trick, this baby isn't going anywhere!

For the price ya cant complain. Im a blacksmith and i beat on vices. My last vice after several repairs finally had it. I didnt have alot of money to put twards a vice. So aftet what seemed forever of searching i saw this one. Im glad i did. The slide is tight, and smoth. Tho for the size of the vice the threaded rod is quite small. I might change that in the future and the meatballs handle is quite short ill be replacing that BUT!!! FOR THE MONEY ITS A GREAT VICE!!!Update.Still runnin strong. Havent had to replace anything yet. Very durable vice.

I would not touch the cheaper Cast Iron vises after seeing and hearing of them breaking all the time. This one is cast steel, and you can tell it's better because it comes with a Lifetime warranty vs. a year or two. Feels beefy (what Vise wouldn't?). I was a little apprehensive on the price how much quality I would be getting, but for lighter duty work it has proven itself very well. Arrived with no damage.Unless your on a budget like me, I'd suggest spending about $200 more and getting a Yost Cast Steel vise. 80K PSI tensile vs. 30K for Cast Iron vises.Unsure what this is but it has to be more than 30K being Cast Steel.

I wasn't expecting something as solid as I got! The whole unit swivels around 100 degrees, which has been incredibly useful for sanding and angle grinding. The anvil surface is sturdy enough to pean rivets on, and the jaws are plenty wide for most projects. I drilled a couple holes in some angle iron and attached it to the jaw for a longer jaw width. I needed wider jaws for bending long tin sheets, but I haven't needed it for anything else. The stock jaws have two sets of grooves on one side which are useful for holding rods upright in without damaging them.I bolted mine to my work bench with some washers and two inch 5/16th bolts, but I probably could have gone a couple of sizes larger. Overall very pleased with this buy. It's not junk, and it's not $400.

I did a good bit of research on many 6" vises before I purchased this one. Wilton is well-known for their vises. With the too-commonly available junk that's out there, you have to be careful. Even a heavy iron vise can be junk. I looked at Harbor Freight and theirs had terrible reviews, although it looks the same and is Chinese. It's hard to find a decent vice not made in China.In my research I found that Wilton uses a supplier in the Czech Republic for many of their imported vises. Mine came in a nice color box and the vise is cast with a raised Wilton branding. I understand it's cast steel (good) , not iron. There is no country of origin on the box or on the vise, so that part's a mystery. The blue hammertone finish is a little ugly, but is well executed. No casting flaws, and the screwjack looks machined instead of cast. It lost one star for no country of origin identification and the ugly paint.
