They work just as advertised. Don't try to jam excess wick down into a shorter bottle, you'll need to trim some off the top. These are great with taller wine bottles, but don't do well with shorter liquor bottles or the bigger jugs. I opted to leave the snuffer off the torch so I get more room to work with. Love it!

For the price, these wicks are perfect for making your own tiki torches. I added mosquito repellent to mine. It comes with all necessary hardware. It looks like the brass fitting can be flipped to fit smaller bottles such as wine bottles. Just make sure you saturate the wick part where you will be lighting it. I used a funnel with the wick inside as I poured my oil in the bottle.

Honest review of Wine Bottle Torch Kit 8 Pack, includes 8 Long Life Torch Wicks, Lamp Cover & Brass Wick Mount (13.7 Inch, Bottle not Included) @ $24.90 at time of order/review.I ordered this kit for the obvious reason and will utilize mostly screw-on lid wine bottles. While reviewing and searching for these, I noticed that a common complaint was the chains and lids rusting if left out where rain might be a factor. I will update this if I have any of my gift recipients complain about this.Likes:Amazon Prime shipping.A complete kit for 8 tiki torches – minus the bottles.Long lasting wicks.Caps with chains for extinguishing the flames and wick protection.These are aesthetically pleasing when done.Dislikes:Chains and caps seem low quality.The chains and caps will likely rust if left in the elements.These DO NOT fit the larger screw on lid wine bottles. You will need to purchase 1x3/4-inch reducers for the larger screw on lid wine bottles, and they are quite expensive.Meh:None so far.Hopefully this honest review helps someone to decide about this product.

This entire kit is pretty cool. The wick mounts, o rings and lamp covers are great. I used plumbing tape to wrap around the mounts then the o ring for extra snugness in the bottles. The wicks do not burn well AT ALL, this is the only downside and also a big one.Initially I soaked the bottom of the wick in citronella then dipped the top in to light, it literally burned down to the brass mount in seconds and went out. Then I let a new wick soak in citronella for a couple days and lit it, seemed to work better but still burned down and went out after about a minute. I can't get the wick to stay lit at all.I ended up buying wicks from Job Lot for a couple bucks and worked 10x better. So overall the kit is very cool and if you can get these wicks to work then its a homerun.

"DIY wine bottle lightCan Use Most Standard Glass Bottle: Whiskey Bottle, Bourbon Bottle, Wine Bottle, etc"Not true. These wicks are huge. They are clearly designed for outdoor tikki torches. They are wide, thick, long, and the fittings don't fit any kind of home/liquor bottle - not wine, gin, vodka, nothing. Even if they did, the wicks would absorb too much oil and not be at all appropriate for the size of the bottle.Seller eventually allowed a return (-$9.23 return shipping to Las Vegas, NV) but what a waste of time. And they only offered this once we contacted Amazon directly, after weeks of no reply.

I followed the directions exactly. I poured paraffin oil into three cleaned and dried wine bottles,, soaked the wicks in the oil for 48 hours, lit the wicks. I observed that the outer sheath of the wick burned off, leaving the inner part of the wick exposed which did not hold a flame. Within 4 minutes the flame extinguished itself. To add to the initial frustration, the first set of these wicks were missing the wick caps, gaskets, and chains to hold the caps, so I sent that set back and get a new set which had all the parts. I don't know what the 4 star reviewers did, but these wicks were a total failure. By the way , the company advertised 'copper' wick caps. NOT!
