These stoppers are supposed to create a vacuum in the wine bottle when the pump is activated. Unfortunately, the vacuum is not created due to some failure in the design. This may be due either to a faulty valve, or the size of the stopper itself may not fit the standard wine bottle neck.

These work well with a plastic tool that sucks the air out.

I have been using vacuum wine stoppers for 20+ years. I just got these and I found them almost useless as they do not hold the air seal even over night. I believe the material may be too slick for wet wine bottles. A waste of money in my opinion.
