Fittings are designed for easy & secure attachment to your violin (adjusting tool is included). Eliminates the allergic reaction common with many other chinrests. While Wittner sizes these 4/4 or 3/4 both will fit either a 3/4 or 4/4 violin. The only difference is in the cup size. The ovaloid cup measures ~4.25" x 2.25" on the 4/4, and 4" x 2" on the 3/4. This is a very comfortable chinrest.

Best chinrest! I’m a violin teacher and nine out of ten violin and viola students say “ahhhh!” when they try it.

The product seems to be of good quality and is very easy to mount on the violin. However, the packaging was slightly damaged.

This is the fifth one that I purchased. I have one for every violin. I still use one from 15 years ago, as good as new.

Holding his 1/2 size violin in the proper position was causing my 9 year old son a literal pain in his neck. His teacher suggested putting moleskin on the edge of his chin rest but I decided to try this instead. My son tried it and he liked it. No more pain! The only issue is that I had to get him a bigger violin case because his violin no longer fit with the new chin rest.

My son had a much more expensive rest on his fiddle when we bought it, but it was deep with a high lip on it. We are new to the fiddling world and I didn’t know one chin rest from the other, I just knew that one was like top of the line. He hated it and it was painful (he is 10). So I searched around and found this little gem, it is almost flat, very shallow. It made all the difference in the world, and much more cost effective.

The standard chin rest is probably sufficient for most users but my son who is a beginner complained about the metal rods were uncomfortable. He is rather short in neck length and this chin rest came recommended by his violin tutor. This chin rest moves the mounting rods from the center towards the left away from one's Adam's Apple plus the part that makes contact with your neck is more oval shaped and flatter, thus spreading out the contact points. The chin rest itself also has a much more organic curve and no pointed edge like the one that came with the violin.Mounting is simple as loosening and tightening two screws. Even the mini screw driver is included. The only problem now is what to do with the old chin rest... Recommended to violin players of all ages and experience levels.

Instant improvement to my 7 yr olds posture!!! It has made such a big difference. Her violin came with a guarneri (sp?) style rest and she would get into the strangest positions to hold the violin up, but not anymore! I didn't like the plastic for myself when I tried one on my viola, but it works great for kids! I read a review somewhere that complained that it was difficult to screw on... not so. It's a very easy mechanism and the screwdriver is just a standard philips head if I remember correctly. In anycase, it's easy peasy. The shape of the rest is great for a huge percentage of people, actually. It is optimal for people who naturally cradle the instrument just to the left of the tailpeg, but accommodates a little to the right of that and quite a bit to the left and doesn't have strange lips or bumps to contend with, which is nice since, being plastic, it isn't possible to alter its shape.I purchased the 3/4 size for my daughter's 1/2 size violin in hopes of a slightly higher fit for her long neck. I don't know that it's higher than the 1/2 size, but it fits just fine and it saves me from having to buy another when she sizes up!

My son's old chin rest was classic wood, so I was afraid that a composite would be of inferior quality. I WAS WRONG. This chin rest is great. The clamping mechanism is far superior to the original chin rest. Since it does not straddle the end piece, it also had a greater range of adjustment. It easily tightens from the bottom posts via screws and came with the screwdriver to do it. Not just a screwdriver that is just a piece of metal, but a good screwdriver with a handle for tightening small screws . I tightened it with just two fingers on the screwdriver to prevent over tightening, and it was very secure. The unit also has cork padding which not only protects, but makes the end piece more secure. I would buy this again. My son really like it as well.
