Follow the rules if the dimension of the woodstove door is 6 inches:
1. If the log is less than 3 inches in diameter, no need to split.
2. If the log is more than 3 inches and less than 6 inches in diameter, split in half.
3. Split into four pieces, if the wood 6 to12 inches in diameter.
4. If the wood more than 12 inches in diameter, split into 6 pieces.

These bits are a worthless waste of money. After failing to be able to break up a small 4"x4"x6" pieceof elm, and the bit getting stuck 3/4" in while using an impact drill. I tried on some wood from the same tree that I had already split. This piece was so thin that I was planning to cut it up for kindling. Again 3/4" in and with an impact, and the bit was so stuck that I had to split the wood just to get it out. The only thing that I can think of is that these may be ment only for freshly cut wood. Which if that's the case it really would have been nice if they had disclosed that in the description. I am not impressed with this at all, and I will never advise anyone to purchase these bits.

I really don't recommend them they will break your wrist unless you are using a battery operated drill and then they'll only fracture your wrist they don't split wood very good

Works as it should, came fast. If I were to do it again I'd get one with fixed shanks, if it gets stuck you can't reverse it out without uncoupling the bit. Personaly I welded the piece I needed and it's perfect now

I try to split wood with drill bits and the bits just turn and get stuck over and over again, they don't work !!

This product DOESN'T WORK! I tried this tool with a commercial 1/2" drill and the maximum of the logs diameter was 4"! JUNK! DO NOT BUY!
