I used this with a Bosch Bulldog. I was trying to split some almond wood I picked up at the grocery store, not terribly big to begin with but I need to split it further for my pizza oven. I started by trying to split the wood down the middle but the bit kept getting stuck. I also got a little banged up. It works much better to split closer to the edge of the wood and keeping clear of knots. For the almond I was placing the bit about 2 inches from the edge. Maybe not the best for hardwood but I’m going to keep using it.

This thing just doesn't work. The manufacturing quality of this is not the problem, the parts look nice and fit well together but I was not able to make it work even on very soft pine. And, when it stalls, it hurts your wrist a lot. It's not that effortless cut you see in the ad, the bit stalls with a big jerk and there's no good way to make the wood split no matter how hard you try to grab the drill.Oh and the bit itself is sharp as all heck you can cut yourself just chucking it up in the drill. Not my favorite product.

I use this on my cordless drill to split kindling and I can cut 3 times the amount I can with a hatchet, in the same amount of time.

I tried to split wood. It didn't split wood. It consistently injured the user even when trying different types of wood. This item deserves a 0 rating.

It will split soft wood. I am in Texas where we have a lot of oak and elm. Works well to get oak down to clean wood by removing dead areas and bark. Will separate wood that is already splitting. Much easier to use with a low rpm 1/2" or larger drill than wedges and sledge hammer. It is no replacement for where only wedges and a sledge hammer are the way thru stubborn wood. Caution should be given as this tool is strong enough, it will spin the log when the wood does not want to split. The tool is strong enough to take abuse that will stall a 7 amp B&D drill. I would and have recommended this tool.

These wood splitter bits all work great but you really have to have a powerful drill to torque it through. And make sure you hold the wood securely or it'll grab and whip around clobbering your shins. Ask me how I know... lol

I can't give any stars because it did not work as advertised. I tried large, small, wet, dry, hardwood, softwood, chordless and electric drills. Could not get the wood to split. Bruised my leg when the drill got away from me. This useless drill bit only went into the wood but wouldn't split it. Don't waste your money!
