i bought this for my husband for Christmas because his brother had recently given him some canes. My husband leaned the canes in a corner for a while, but we have some crazy cats that ran into and knocked them over. I wanted a wooden one hoping that it wouldn't scratch the canes like a metal one might. The canes all fit in .the holder and there is room for a few more. My husband liked the design

I use this to keep my canes and staffs orderly confined so they are not falling down to trip over.

There was no carving on any side. Just plain wood, but the wood grain is nice enough so I'll skip the hassle of returning it.
