It is simple to position when turning smaller items or sanding; the closer you can get to the source of the dust the more effective the extraction.
  • Effective dust extraction for woodturners: The relatively compact size (overall depth 230mm) allows the hood to be positioned close to the source of the dust. The articulated bracket system makes it easy to adjust its position for a more targeted extraction and place the hood in the path of flying shavings.

I have tried literally every model of lathe dust hood I can find, including a homemade one. This is the best by far. Of course, NO lathe hood will capture everything, especially if you are turning pens with acrylic material because the resulting static electricity just makes the junk stick to everything, but this is now my last hood, and it work better than all the rest. I am a professional pen tuner of thousands of pens over 10 years.

A bit fussy to set up and you may need additional support for the hose. I have a 4 in collection hose and it bends the arm without additional support just prior to the connection. I use a bungee cord about 20 inches out from the wide mouth connector. With the extra support in place, the strain is taken off and the arm is easier to adjust.

This dust extraction system is SOLID. Setup was fairly strait forward, had to bend metal a part back a smidge as it was a little too snug for assembly. Simple and functional design, takes a bit of floor space though and isn't something you just adjust on the fly.The dust hood had 2 square holes in it, not sure what the intended purpose was for this. I put masking take over both sides of the holes so it didn't worsen airflow. Double checked the product photos on Amazon and the dust hood doesn't show these 2 square holes. That is the only "ding" for this.

This product had no reviews so I was hesitant to buy it. It’s well built and was easy to put together. I like that I can just pick it up and put it either on the back or the front of my lathe.
