Writes smoothlyBigger barrel to grip easilySlight formation at the grip to give guidance on where to place fingersEasy to fillNice retractable featureMakes noise when writing--something inside rattles around and that's annoyingNot worth current price of 27.99, especially when there is no CONVERTER option to fill with your own bottled ink; you're stuck buying the tiny cartridges in order to continue use of this pen

I like fountain pens but I'm generally reluctant to take my fancier pens out on the go with me. This pen seemed like it would be a good candidate for portability. The pen case arrived in bubble wrap in a regular mailer, but there was no damage to the case or the pen. Installing the cartridge was easy enough. Unscrew the pen, take out the installed empty cartridge and push a new one in till it pops. The nib does get pushed out during this process so its important to hold the barrel on the sides and not the end as you could damage the door mechanism or possibly poke your finger. The door mechanism is pretty clever. I figured the nib would be the thing pushing the door open, but that's not the case. The nib doesn't ever touch the door. There's a clever lever that pushes the door open just before the nib hits it. It's a pretty long throw before the pen clicks to open, but I've gotten used to it. The click is also fairly quiet so it shouldn't bother people if you're a pen clicker, but you should still seek help. It's a medium nib and ink flows well and transfers to the page smoothly. I've gotten used to finer nibs so this one feels a little fat to me. Like a .7 line or a gel pen. The included ink is a nice dark blue. I've got some syringes and bottled ink so when these run out I'll likely just re-use the cartridges. The whole pen is plastic, but it's got a little bit of heft to it, likely due to the mechanism inside. The barrel has some very subtle indentations where your fingers go to help you align your nib while writing. I'm glad for these as I thought a fully round pen would be tedious to get lined up to write with.Overall it writes well and doesn't break the bank as far as fountain pens go. You can get a Safari for around the same price, but would have to deal with a cap. The benefit here is you just click and go, then click and stow. I also feel like I can be a little rougher with this pen which is nice when I just need to throw something in a bag.

Like my review said, this is a decent fountain pen, but not a great one. At least not for me. I'm newer to fountain pens, so that might be why. It feels good in my hand and is about the size of most other fountain pens that I've tried. However, I can't write the best with it. The other fountain pens I've used let me write with the nib in slightly different directions, whereas this has to be held the same way no matter what. Which makes for slower writing, some heavier flow in places and bit of frustration on my end. I realize some of this is probably user error, as I'm a bit newer to fountain pens. But having used a couple other nice ones, I know it's not all on me. I do like how this is refillable, so if I find I like it the more I use it, I will be able to change out the cartridges very easily.

I have 2 fountain pens I use from time to time, both I struggle with capping and keeping track of the cap. For my gel and ballpoint pens, I prefer retractable pens, because who wants to have to keep track of a cap. So this struck me as a neat idea. When I got it, the case it was in was neat. I can store it in that along with the ink refills. The pet sits on top of where the ink is stored. It shows you how to install the ink cartridge, which is a good idea, it is not intuitive, as you have to press down on the cartridge to break the seal. The first time I did it, I didn’t press hard enough. The second time, I felt the seal on the ink cartridge give, so I know that time it worked. Initially the pen did not write, so I stored it nib down in a pen holder for a few minutes and then it worked fine. I like the color and the thickness of the line.I like that Amazon shows a link where new cartridges can be purchased. I don’t like to hunt for that.Having used about ½ of the first cartridge already, I know it is like most fountain pens, in that you need to hold it at about 45 degrees to keep the ink flowing. I find this one corrects faster than my others though. Once it acts like it is dry, just hold it upright for a few seconds and it is ready to go again. The pen looks like some space age thing with the clear aqua blue and the tip looks a bit odd with the little side flap that enables it to retract. The tip higher up is thinner than my other pens, but it has as thick of a line as my others, which have a medium nib.A few times the retraction was a bit sticky and it stayed in one position or the other, but it sorted out easy enough with another button push.Overall I’m really pleased with this pen.

Works and for the price point still on the fence about it. They does one single use ink cartridges (You have to press rather hard to puncture the capsule), but one could refill the single use capsules if one wanted to and use them again. Just have to be careful not to make a mess when trying to refill the plastic cartridges. It does write a little thick for me, and it is a true .07 (these are available in a .05). I am usually a .038 - .05 fine pen fan myself. After the first initial puncture of your ink cartridge, it takes a minute to get the ink to start flowing, but once it gets going it comes out smoothly and evenly. The unique thing I do like about this is that the "air tight" lid that covers the nib when you retract the pen. Heck a retractable fountain pen is a novelty within itself. Saves you from losing the cap. It has not leaked on my yet, so I am unsure how tight the lid is, but no dry ink so far it has been two weeks! And I click it and then begin to write without any issues.
