Purchased this for pregnant Platys to give birth. I love the size and that it can be divided into 2. I don't like how easily it is for babies to accidentally swim into Moms area and get eaten. The Mom cant go into the bottom, but the babies easily swim up into Moms area. Since Platys take days to give birth this poses a problem. Next time I may opt for one with a different style divider to protect the babies.

Alot bigger than I was expecting! The divider is a little loose, but it still works fine and makes it easier to adjust . Would definitely recommend to anyone needing a breeder box.

I breed Molly's and guppies. One of my old brooders was worn out. I couldn't find anything like it. So I thought I would give this one a chance. The plastic poles do not fit into the bases, and the adjustment for the fry panel is pathetic. I went ahead and put it together because I have two females about ready to drop. I put the divider in and added the two females, and went into the other room. I came back not more than 2 minutes later and both of them were in the bottom of the basket where the frye should be. I wish I had taken a picture. I had to carefully disassemble the junk with the fish in it and get them out of the net. I guess I will take the divider and bottom plate out and use the basket. I don't know how many frye I will be able to save before they are eaten. So, I have lost money and I will lose fish which is losing more money. Please do not buy this junk!

Had a pregnant guppie ordered the item it arrived the next day. Put her in, she immediately gave birth. She has had 3 deliveries since. All 50 fri are safe in the net. Plenty of room. The first set are ready to join the tank. Buy this if you need it.

I really like this box. I wanted to give it 5 stars but there are flaws. It’s big enough to accommodate a large group of fry - it certainly takes up quite a bit of space in my 20G tank. The fry do fall through the bottom into the net. They’re supposed to. If the fry aren’t separated from the female, she’ll eat them. In that respect, the box works great. Once the female has delivered all she’s going to, she goes back into the main tank and the blue plastic can be removed so the fry have full use of the box. However, the description of contents listed on Amazon is different than that listed on the box. And the directions are screwed up. The box states there are 2 metal hooks with plastic nails included, and even has instructions and pictures on how to assemble. Amazon’s description does not include them, and they aren’t in the box. Did the seller seriously go through all the boxes and remove these plastic nails? Additionally, the instructions say to place the net over the box with the net opening at the bottom of the box. This means the fry would be released into the open tank as the are born instead of being contained in the net. I suppose this is ok if you’ve set up a completely different tank, and the fry will just remain in that tank as they sink through the slits and the female is removed from that tank. But if this box is in a tank with other fish, the other fish will eat all the fry as they fall into the main tank and are exposed. The completed picture even shows the net open at the top. I used it with the opening at the top so the net would contain the fry as they fell through the slits. Then I removed the female; the fry were in the main tank, but safe and secure from being eaten because they were in the mesh box. Also, there are nobs on the box to attach 6 suction cups but there are only2 included. That’s cheap. Suction cups are not expensive, they could have been included. The box would stick to the tank more securely if all six were provided. If it hadn’t been for these flaws, I would have given it 5 stars.
