Yamaha does it again. Lightweight but sturdy construction. Their new line of aluminum stands is a super way to shave many pounds off your hardware carrying case. Typical Yamaha quality, excellent.

Amazing flyweight snare stand that belies its functionality. Versatile adjustment, durable, and can handle popcorn to more standard snare sizes. No more strained arm/back muscles lugging heavy gear around. Takes its share of jazz, rock, pop, or whatever else you play on it.Though absolutely not meant for demolition-style stage antics or drunk band members falling into the drum kit. That gets kinda old after a while.

I don't BANG on snare, but for my use, it's very sturdy. Being so light, I was worried about sturdiness. Comes with a cloth "dent case" to store stand in hardware chest. A bit pricey.

There's no end to what you can gift a drummer. New, lighter, better, cooler stuff comes out all the time. This isn't as light as he thought it would be, but it's lighter than his old one. Maybe someone will invent a lighter one by next Christmas.

I am a big fan of light but sturdy hardware, I am a happy user of the Axis brand of aluminum stands. I simply don't need to be carrying around hardware that weighs 2x the weight of my drums and cymbals. This snare stand is one of the series of aluminum stands just released by Yamaha. It is very well built, everything is fitted, and everything works as intended. And it is 35% lighter than its steel counterpart. I use this stand for my practice pad. But should I need to replace my kit hardware I would do so with this new line of stands. Great execution Yahama.
