It did not come with wiring instructions. With older boats such as mine, 1989 evenrude. The colors of the wires are some what different and it was a guessing game to wire it. Nice product though. Just needs some wiring instructions!!

I bought this product for a boat I bought to repair and flip. I ended up putting it on my own boat. 1/2 the price of OEM with no loss of quality. Everything is there for hook up, but you have to by the cables and harness extensions separate depending on the length of your boat. It is literally plug and play with the factory harness.

When the control box arrived, everything looked fine except for a crack in the wiring harness. I decided to just splice the wires because I was hoping to take my boat out in a few days. After hooking up the cables and testing the control box in the driveway with the motor running, I decided it was good to go.While out on the water a few days later everything seemed to be working except that it seemed like I wasn't able to get to full throttle on the motor. After adjusting the throttle cable as far as it could go, I still wasn't able to get the motor to go to full throttle, and it wouldn't even move the shift cable to put the motor in reverse. Every adjustment I made did nothing. That's when I knew that there was something wrong with the control box, so a few days later I uninstalled it from the boat to see if there was an adjustment I could make. After further inspection I noticed that not only were the arms that push or pull the cables not moving far enough to give the motor full throttle, but they were slipping when there was the slightest bit of resistance.Thinking again that maybe I could get this thing to work, I took off the back panel, and to my surprise the whole thing popped open and parts just fell right out. I couldn't get it back together, and even I could, I would never reinstall this thing on my boat. After all this messing around, I'm now past my return window and I'm not happy. This controller was only $100 less than a genuine BRP controller, and it's significantly worse in quality. Now I'm stuck with a pile of worthless parts.Do yourself a favor and buy the real BRP parts. This controller is a ripoff!!!

My old one was warn to the point that it would not bring me back to idle. Easy to inslall and have the controls back to normal. 15 months later the throttle arm is loose and will not idle down motor. Going to contact seller and try to get resolved before getting a new one,

it does seem to work but like all plastic its loose, its floppy, not solidlike a metal one would be, used it only once!
