Here I am just a few hours away from being able to get our water back on and I decide to do a little bit of pre-work prep to make the job go faster. I go to check the fit of these connectors with my pipe and not only is it a loose fit, IT JUST DROPS INTO PLACE. I cannot believe it just rattles around inside 2 different 1" pipes! Not sure how in the world I'm going to get a good seal.For good measure, I double checked with a 1" fitting that I had laying around for years that is clearly marked Made in Taiwan. It's a PERFECT fit! I have to work it into either pipe with a bit of effort, which is how it SHOULD be. Sadly, it's not the type of fitting I need. I'm betting this is a metric fitting that is close to 1", but not spot on.I have never compared 1" poly to 1" PEX, so decided to try that route. Nope, these fittings are definitely meant for poly pipe. ...Guess I'll just have to heat the pipe up enough to re-form it so that it will fit snugly onto the fitting. I don't have time to waste waiting for any other fittings, and I life an hour from town, but I have cancer really bad and cannot get out much. ARG!! ...Oh well -- *singing* "A forming we will go, a forming we will go, Another way to waste my time, A forming we will go". *sigh*On a good note, these fittings DO appear to be made of brass, and they DO look the way they're supposed to look. Only, they're too small -- but just slightly, so wish me luck!

This item is not as described. NOT 1" hose barb and although advertised as 1" is closer to .98" which is HUGE if you don't want your project to leak. Also paid $10 shipping for product that did not arrive as described. Buy elsewhere.

Bought these as a "just in case" need for 1 inch water supply line to the house. Wanted these and hose clamps around in case the line gets damaged. I tested it on some leftover supply line I had. It fits the 1 inch Driscol line perfectly. It slips in with reasonable resistance and snugness. The barbs are not sharp, but have enough edge to them I do not worry about it being force out under pressure. These plus a simple hose clamp will be enough for a repair if needed.

I've been using 1" poly pipe for many years. Normally, these fittings take a great deal of effort to get into the pipe. Decided to by a couple from Amazon instead of from my trusty local hardware store...These slip right into the pipe with no resistance at all, and can't be sealed no matter how tightly you crank the clamps. I don't know what size pipe they would work with, but they are not for 1 " pipe. I think they might be for some metric equivalent pipe, judging by the positive global reviews, but they don't work for U.S. 1" pipe.
