It works well, but it's expensive for something you'll only use once in a while. There's no facility to switch it off, and there's absolutely no hope of changing the battery because the electronics have been hermetically sealed. I was stuck, so I had to purchase it.

Man får gissa varvtalet med örat ändå för dom valbara lägena för 2takt/4takt etc är fel,Skulle kolla min gräsklippare och valde rätt men de visade 6300 på det läget vilket troligtvis är 3000rpm för mycket

Put it on my 5hp today and at idle registered almost 5k not even close my outboard idles at 1500.Waste of money.

This item is very compact and is delivered set up to be installed on a mower, generator….etc. I am using this meter to verify my JD X350 engine set up as the engine appears to be running at high RPMs which leads to run on after I kill the engine. Using this I was able to identify the engine at idle was 350 rpm too high at idle and lead to me to track down the issue. The governor was bent & hitting the motor housing. All fixed now. I have decided to mount the tachometer on the JD. Simple but effective tool that probably saved me money versus a shop repair.The meter is flexible in the fact that you can set the meter to read many different firing patterns. The ability to clip the meter onto the spark plug makes this an easy and effective tool.

This unit does what is is designed to do.A few issues with this item.First is the display size, it is small, readable but small. It also is hard to read in bright ambient light.Second is the trigger connection. I had hoped that the clamp would stay in place. On two different engines that I tested this on, the clamp tended to slide around causing erratic readings.Other units like this use a wire wrap style trigger that I have had better luck with.The fact that you can not change the battery when it dies makes this yet another device that will end up in the garbage and that is a drawback to be sure.
