I bought this item so I can go night fishing on my kayak. I've mounted it, which was really easy to do. I used a 1 1/4" hole maker to drill the hole, after I marked off the width and matching up the hole maker size. Then I used a utility knife to enlarge the hole to make it fit snugly. I connected the wire the the leads that went to the battery, applied sealant around the holes and screws, and mounted it to the rear of my kayak... I'm still in the middle of the project, so I haven't tested the visibility yet. I also like that I can stow my light away when I go fishing during the day. The receptacle has a cover so water and dust won't get into it when I stow my light.
