Sterling 10.5-Could not achieve a good coast pattern. Packaging Styrofoam was in pieces when removed from box. The gear set looked okay though. Was able to achieve a perfect drive pattern at .010 backlash and .027" pinion depth (stock was .025"). Usually if you achieve a good drive pattern, the coast will be good. Not the case with these. The tech support rep from Yukon stated the drive pattern just looks deep on these gears and they're designed that way. So after running them as per their advise, coast and tip in were noisy/whined. Could not get a good coast pattern no matter what we tried. Corresponded with tech support at Yukon multiple times with multiple patterns. Following their advice, could still not achieve a good coast pattern. These gears are made in China now. No longer a US made product like Yukon used to be so I think that's why their quality has fallen off. There's also not a pinion check depth on the face of the pinion gear. That usually wasn't an issue with Yukon gearsets I've installed before though because it was always close or dead on with the factory depth shim. Do yourself a favor and only buy a set that has the pinion check depth listed on the pinion and B/L on the ring gear. Sent them back and will be sourcing a Richmond, Spicer, AAM or OE gearset. I don't have the time nor the inclination to assemble and disassemble these 20 times and still not achieve a good pattern.

Ford 8.8 out of a 96 explorer, my first gear setup but I did a bunch of research on how to set up, bought the tools and got the gears set up in 4 hours. Wasn't to bad once you get your head around how things work in there for setting up. Been beating the snot out of my jeep and they have been great, no whine on the road. Installed with a grizzly locker and Yukon master install kit. Nothing came with stickers, which was kinda a bummer

I had these gear installed professionally and they whined so terribly I could not hardly stand driving the vehicle. I had them readjusted four different times by professionals with the same end result. In the end I wound up buying OEM gears and they are so quiet I can’t hear them at all, so I finally have my sanity back. I will never buy Yukon Gears again!
