The "4" in the name of this product likely refers to the four items in the box: a bottle of cleaning fluid, a silicone disc to cover the record label, and two microfiber cloths.The silicone disc is used to protect the label of the LP from the cleaning spray, which may harm the label, and then the instructions are to place the record on one microfiber cloth while wiping with the other. This can clean some surface material from the LP, but one really needs another tool to reach into the grooves to remove deep debris that may reside there. Use of this fluid and cloth can likely clean lightly soiled LPs, but may not be up to the task of cleaning more significantly soiled records.There are no directions included in the box, there are basic instructions printed on the bottle of fluid. No mention is made to avoid use of this liquid on older 78s, the coating of which may be damaged by the components of the spray.

This seems to be exactly the same kit as the SpinArt brand record cleaner (which now seems to be unavailable on Amazon).The two large microfiber cloths that are included in the kit can wipe off any surface dirt nicely. However, these are finely-woven, eyeglass-type cleaning cloths, and do NOT get down into the grooves of a record. There is no brush included here, either; so this kit will NOT DEEP CLEAN your records at all.I like the record label protector, though, which is made of thick silicone rubber. Cover a label with it while the record is lying on a countertop (with one of the microfiber cloths underneath it for protection) and it stays in place nicely.However, this label protector also has a spindle hole, so you can use it to safely cover a label while the record is still spinning on your turntable, making spraying an even mist a bit easier. The silicone’s flexibility also makes this part easy to remove from a spindle; so you can go directly from cleaning to immediately playing your record.My bottle of cleaning spray did arrive cracked, and very slightly leaking. Fortunately, the plastic bottle is made of fairly thick material; otherwise, the USPS mailing pouch that everything came in would have been full of cleaning fluid. I just put a bead of resin cement on the crack, and it seems to be holding, without any further leakage.

I have a fairly large vinyl record collection (over 1000 records and about 500 old shellac/78s as well). In our recent upgrade of the media room in our home (which is a fancy way of saying where my record collection and our large book collection lives), it required us to move everything out of the shelves so we could expand the space and make it run the entire wall. I thought that would be a perfect time to clean some of my older records that really needed it.I have an ultrasonic cleaner as well and I have used that for the 78s because...they are shellac and I feel like they are much sturdier and can handle it. Some of the regular vinyl I have is rare and it feels sort of thin, so I wanted a gentle approach for those - and that's where this kit comes in. Happy to say that it is absolutely PERFECT for cleaning your records...and I think I actually like it more than the ultrasonic cleaner! HA! Here's why:1. The kit comes with everything you need - cleaning solution, a label guard, a brush, and cleaning cloths.2. The brush is the standout in this kit for me - it's really NICE but also really gentle, and it does a great job of cleaning dirt off records without feeling like you are damaging them in any way.3. The cleaning cloths are nice and BIG - bigger than the record by over an inch. This is unlike the ones that usually come in record cleaning kits, which are inexplicably small. Records are 12" x 12" people...thanks for the 3"x5" cloth but it's really not that helpful LOL4. The solution is made from safe ingredients that you can be confident will not harm the surface of your records in any way.5. Everything that comes in this kit is useful and well thought out, so you will need nothing more for a Sunday morning of listening to records and cleaning them as you go (Hey, this is very therapeutic! Just saying!)6. It's a great price...comparable to others I have gotten but actually contains better "stuff" - especially the label guard which MOST of these don't include for some reason. This one does and I greatly appreciate it!Overall, this is a solid cleaning kit that, unless you are cleaning a VERY large collection, you will definitely not need to buy again for a long, long time - and you can trust to do the job well. I highly recommend it!!

I use this YVW Vinyl Record Cleaner Kit to keep my second-hand and estate sale vinyl finds clean.I have my record albums categorized by where I purchased them. I use this record-cleaning kit to keep the lower-end albums as clean as they're going to get. And, there is sometimes lots of junk from mishandling, abuse, neglect, and even storage mold in the grooves of these finds, but that's no reason to let them languish. Lots of these albums are out of print and will never be pressed again.This cleaning kit allows me to take care of these old albums and rejuvenate them, while still keeping them and their issues segregated from my higher-end album cleaning tools, so there's no cross-contamination. I am not saying this kit couldn't handle newer albums, just that this is how I use it and it works very well for how I choose to use it.This is a great vinyl album cleaning kit for an even greater price.

We were just gifted a rack stereo system with a turntable and now begins the record collection, the need to keep them clean, and well cared for. The kit comes with a large bottle of cleaner that will last for a long time. There are two microfiber cloths. One can be used as a base the other to clean. The label protector is a great addition to the kit. Great product!
