Practically useless at locating studs and edges. Frustrating to use and unreliable results. Better to spend a little more for a better product. Design of battery compartment makes it a challenge to access for installation.

I have wall that are a combination of cement and drywall and maybe that is too much for this cheap model. Made holes twice and was let down by no stud. Would save your money and time and buy something else.

I had one of these for more than a decade before it died. I needed basic functionality for hanging shelves and pictures on drywall, and I didn’t need a high degree of accuracy. The old one was just fine for this, and the new one works the same with the nice addition of the vertical red line. I don’t know that feature is particularly useful but it looks nice. Don’t look for frills here, but if what you want is an inexpensive device that’ll work on drywall for hanging shelves, then this is a great option.

I needed one of these for years now. It's simple to use and right off the bat once we got the hang of how to slide it correctly and slowly along the wall, we found studs we could've used to hang shelves. We are going to be moving soon so this is going to help in the new apt. Works great for the price. Light to carry, beeping and laser work great to alert you of studs accurately. A good buy.

I have had a stud finder for many years. Unfortunately, it just stopped working. I did my research, and this one is highly recommended. I purchased it, and had an opportunity to use it. It did a great job finding the not just the stud, but the center of the stud. It found the stud perfectly every time. Great tool at a great price.

I received this product in absolutely no commercial packaging at all. It was laying loose in a box big enough for a pair of toddler shoes with the battery cover off. The product seems to work okay but the velcro attached to the bottom already has other fibers tangled up in it making it seriously appear as though this is a used tool being sold as new.
