4. Precautions for the use of vernier calipers.
- The vernier caliper is a precise measuring tool. It should be handled with care and no collision or falling to the ground.
- Do not use a vernier caliper to measure rough objects, so as not to damage the measuring jaw; avoid putting it together with the cutting tool to avoid scratching the surface of the vernier caliper; when not in use, it should be placed in a dry and neutral place, away from acid/alkaline substances.
- Inspection caliper: Wipe the caliper clean before measurement, check the two measuring surfaces and jaws of the caliper to ensure that they are straight and undamaged; close the two measuring jaws tightly, there should be no obvious gap between the measuring jaws, and The 0 scale of the vernier is aligned with the 0 scale of the main ruler.
- When measuring objects, do not apply too much pressure to the caliper, just let the two measuring claws of the caliper just touch the surface of the part. If the measuring pressure is too large, not only will the measuring claw bend or wear, but also the measuring claw will be elastically deformed under the pressure, making the measured size inaccurate.
- When reading the measured value, you should hold the caliper horizontally in your hand, and the line of sight should be as vertical as possible to the surface of the caliper to prevent reading errors caused by the skew of the line of sight.
- After using the vernier caliper, wipe it clean with cotton yarn. When it is not used for a long time, wipe it with butter or engine oil, close the two measuring jaws, tighten the fastening screws, and put it into the caliper box/bag.

Upon arrival, the product’s plastic carrying case was broken and taped closed with plastic tape. Quite obviously this was not a “new” item. While the calipers operate smoothly, and the markings for inches and cm/mm are accurate on the body, the measurement markings on the slider are not using the same scales in either inches nor millimeters.It’s perfectly functional to measure inner and outer dimensions in cm/mm. However, the inches have major divisions of 0.1”, which is okay, BUT those tenths of inches are subdivided into four quarters of that tenth, which is weird to switch out of decimalization.

I was looking for a caliper for both center meter and inch. the product works for me. i also compared readings from both units and they are accurate.
