Why waste time and effort cleaning filter basket and canister filter when this removes the bulk of the problems. I have used this unit now for a month and typically have to clean the pump basket and canister filter twice a month (at least, season dependent). After a month of use, I checked both filters and they were empty...really...no debris. So, it saves time and probably the cost of the canister filter change (I have been replacing 2 times per year at $60 each). If this unit lasts one year, it paid for itself. I'm estimating a 5-year life expectancy or $300 maintenance cost reduction, less the cost of the unit, of course.

Does an excellent job of keeping larger debris about of your pump for vacuuming to waste. The automated dump valve make it much lighter to handle than alternative models. My complaint with is unit is it comes with fittings that are suppose to make it work with traditional slip-fit hose. The fittings are not well designed to mate up and want to slip off so one must be careful pulling the hose. A little more thought and an extra 1/2” of vinylized plastic on each adapter would solve this problem.

Works as described, catches all the leaves and blooms that fall into the pool from my neighbors yard. Quick and easy to set up and clean it when needed. Worth the money, totally!

Our pool receives a LOT of plant debris (we have a mature Tipu tree nearby, which drop a ton of waste, and also an enormous bougainvillea). Previous in-line cannisters we have used held more debris, but also permitted more debris to pass through them, creating problems further upstream in the system.While this unit holds somewhat less, very little passes though it. It has eliminated most of our skimmer and pump issues with debris.This unit is also very easy to clean. The inner filter has a fold-out handle. I just tip the cannister over a basket and pull the handle. A couple of fast twists left-right, and most of the mess flies off into the basket.
