There are well-made metal compasses. They hold their setting when in use. They are fairly small for smaller projects. There are additional parts furnished for adaptability. They work well and feel right.

Brand new day 1 was a terrible experience. The leads do not stay in the compass no matter how much you tighten the screw. We tried several different ones but they were all the same. Out of the entire pack, maybe 30% were barely usable.

I was teaching a summer camp group to draw and they were having trouble with circles. I got this set because they seemed like they’d hold up to children’s use but still be accurate. I wasn’t disappointed. The kids all got how they worked and really enjoyed crating pages of circles that they could paint. The set was inexpensive enough that I gave them campers the compasses at the end of camp.
