RAM steel alignment tools are precision machined for an exact fit and ease of installation. The open ended design makes it possible to progressively load the clutch pack without having to juggle the parts in your hand while assembling to the flywheel. These are especially helpful when installing multiple disc clutches.

This made it so much easier than the plastic ones. After setting the clutch up I was able to slide the transmission right in.

My clutch kit came with the plastic tool, so I assumed it was good enough. Wrong! If you used a plastic tool and your T-56 will not go in, but rather hangs out about 0.5 to 1,5" or so, you fought, you swore, you struggled, you jiggled, you thought maybe a pilot bearing dropped so you pulled it out to no avail, it won't go in... you need this tool.Tolerances on the T-56 input shaft are too tight and the plastic tool is too flexible. As you torque down the pressure plate, the plastic tool bends one way or the other, even though it is not noticeable. Then when you try try to install the solid metal T-56 input shaft, it doesn't go in

Bought this to have an accurate alignment tool. Not so, the pilot was undersize by .004 and fit very loose in the pilot bushing which allowed the splined area up where the clutch disc rides, to move around a significant amount. Messaged the company and was told it wasn't out of tolerance by much and to just wiggle it around until it looked centered.Unacceptable. The purpose of a machined tool would be it's potential accuracy over a plastic tool.

I damn near blew my back spending a whole day trying to line up my mcleod twin clutch for my t56 magnum using the included garbage plastic tool. Ordered this one and lined it up one and POP went right in the first time...took a little wiggling but it went easy all the way home.As the saying goes, good tools are INVAULABLE....this is a tool you should NOT think twice about having in your box. trust me throw that plastic junk away and buy this...... worth every cent.

Phenomenal alignment tool with the added bonus (unsure if intended?) that it can be used to install the 'small' crank pilot bearing (GM 14061685) with a few taps while keeping everything centered. Aligned a LS7 clutch setup with ease!

This tool is probably one of the best purchases I've made in tools. I fought to install my tremec after using the cheap plastic alignment tool usually provided with clutches. Used this and everything lined up on first try. You won't regret the purchase. Plus it was cheaper than trying to find a used input shaft, which is the other best alternative over that plastic tool.

I was having issues trying to install my T56 magnum, something simple for other transmissions is not so with the precision of a T56. I spent hours trying to get the input shaft to slide into the pilot bushing. I got two types of advise: get a buddy to help you and get a precision metal alignment tool. After another frustrating hour, I ordered this tool. When this alignment tool arrived, first thing I did was try to install it. Trying to Install this tool after aligning with the plastic alignment tool proved to me that the plastic tool failed and was the cause of my fustrations. Taking the pressure plate off and realigning with this RAM alignment tool did the trick. This time it felt very centered without any play and it held the clutch disk on its own where the plastic alignment tool wanted to slide back out and wabble.Once this tool was used, installing the T56 took minutes by myself. I simply rocked and rotated the transmission lightly as I pushed it forward. Once I got the dowel pins aligned I added the bolts but only finger tight. Then I would push the trans further in, finger tight the bolts and repeat until the transmission was flat against the bell housing. If you have precision tools like this you will not need a buddy to help you install a t56, but if you don't have the clutch disk aligned it will not matter how many people help you it will not slide in.
