Used 6" snatch blocks to pull down three large oak trees with 1/4" stainless steel cable. Chained blocks at10 to 12 feet above grade on tree, third block chained at grade to tree 50 to 70 feet away. Used mechanical advantage of trunk to uproot tree and avoid leaving a stump to deal with. Relocated root bundle and sawed up tree to onsite compost area nearby.

One of the two pulleys was defective - the wheel stopped spinning when under a load. The 2nd one seems to work OK. I would not recommend these - if you have any load (maybe over 1 ton) you probably want to look elsewhere.
