This is a great kayak grapple anchor but you need to know how to properly rig this anchor in order to not loose it to a snag. The 3.5lb is the perfect size for my 11.5ft Perception Outlaw kayak and the light blue color is a great match to my particular kayak color. I uploaded photos to show how I'm setting my anchor up which means you might need a few extra hardware pieces. When you attach the rope to the front of the anchor and then zip tie the rope to the hole in the handle it will allow you to get this anchor unstuck from an obstruction. By using small zip ties they will allow you to fairly easily break them off when your anchor gets jammed by pulling hard enough which will change the pulling force from the back of the anchor to the front. By pulling from the front of the anchor you are more likely to get it unstuck and potentially have the arms fold up and out of the way. You can find videos on YouTube demonstrating this setup for a grapple anchor and how efficient it is at dislodging and retrieving. I would recommend this product.

I ordered this anchor to take with me out on the water with my SUP. The claw anchor flukes folds and locks easily and can grip the bottom of rocky surfaces up to 24 feet deep with the included rope. Offering 3.5 lbs in tethering weight, this is perfect for fish floating/SUP lounging, yet small and light enough to store in my SUP cargo net. Seems to be well made, functional, and offers a great value. I appreciate the carrying/storage bag too.

When kayaking I'm typically on the move, or not stationary for long, but there have been a few times I wished I could hold my position. I never liked the idea of lugging around a traditional anchor, and have used a drift anchor for years with a decent amount of success. Unfortunately those only hold so well, so I opened up to the idea of a standard anchor to give this a shot, and honestly now I wish I did years ago.Pros:+ Good price for such a useful piece of gear.+ When collapsed in its provided storage bag it takes up very little space.+ Very easy to fold open and deploy the locking ring.+ Paint seems thick enough to hold up well over time.+ The included float is a nice touch. There really aren't any cons that I can find with this product in particular, just with anchors in general when it comes to small craft like kayaks. That being said, I can't say that I have any complaints with this at all.Overall, it is made well, priced well, and performs well. I like how small it collapses down, as well as how good it is at preventing my kayak from drifting. It doesn't take much to break it loose and reel it in, and I feel like I'll get many years out of it. If you're at all considering an anchor, this 3.5lbs one is great for your average one person kayak, and definitely something you should seriously consider.

This is a great 3 1/2 lb. grapnel anchor for our kayaks (Hobie Lynx) especially when we're fishing. The anchor is well designed and made - it should last for years. The anchor is made from galvanized iron which should make it rust and corrosion resistant - especially with the painted surfaces. Note: there are several You Tube videos demonstrating proper use of the grapnel anchors - especially for un-snagging situations. The kit comes complete with a 40' marine rope, buoy ball, snap hooks and a great storage bag. Due to its foldability - usage and storage is one of its top features. This is pretty much a complete setup for being able to anchor our kayaks without encountering issues.Overall, the best anchor set for our kayaks, well engineered/designed, quality materials, simple operation, should last for years and is being sold at a very fair price. Definitely a (5) star product.

Just recently purchased a kayak and wanted a way to anchor it and this is the perfect solution. It comes with the bag, anchor, rope, float, and clip. 3.5lbs is the perfect size for my little kayak and the fit and finish on it is great. I made an anchor trolley for the yak to prevent the anchor from just holding on the side and this allows for the positioning into the waves instead of being swamped sideways. The float is a nice added feature as well and makes getting the line easier. Recommend.

3.5lbs is perfect for my vibe shearwater 125. I had a 1.5 but that was too light to keep me in place in the wind. Anchor line is thick and of good quality and even comes with a line float. Im happy with this anchor

I don’t fish from my kayak and it never occurred to me I could actually STOP PADDLING! and look around… smell the salt cedar…talk turkey with a mallard. And without this grapple anchor by MorningRo, I couldn’t even if it had—or the current here would’ve carried me to Mexico. This anchor is awesome! I may even start carrying a book (English ed.) in my kayak.Found the product description to be 100% accurate. However I wish seller would’ve saved me a half-hour watching YouTube videos on break-away rigging and just shipped it that way. Using this top-rigging scheme is playing Russian roulette against your new anchor being irretrievably caught in the rocks or on underwater debris. That makes this grapple anchor no better than many others for sale on Amazon. iow, shop. But hey, if you just tie this anchor to your kayak and throw it over the side with the rigging as is, it will work and—unless you’re a bad person—you probably won’t lose it on your first toss.p.s. If you decide to tune in to YouTube for more on breakaway or bottom-rigging, the instructions generally don’t say whether to lock the “flukes” (the things doing the “grappling”) during use. These anchors typically include a collar to lock them both in the open and closed positions. Lock’em. If the anchor doesn’t work when you need it to, there's no point retrieving it when it gets stuck....
