The fresh herbs clog up the blades

This gadget is the best thing since sliced bread. It's so simple that I thought I'd been gulled, but no, it shreds clumpy old herbs with ease.Wish I'd had one years ago. Might have to buy a couple more for gifts.

I have tried (and have) several different types of herb grinders. I had this one years ago and tried some different types. I recently bought this one again when I realized that this design, and the product itself, is by far the best of all. It works well with both dry and fresh herbs. One suggestion, while it seems that it can be more thoroughly cleaned by taking the blade assembly apart it really isn't necessary. I found out when I had my first grinder of this type - once its disassembled and put back together it didn't seem to work as well. It seems to clean well by just soaking the bottom part of the unit in soap and water and rotating the blades as needed.

It does work very well in chopping herbs but I expected just to turn one way and mine actually works great with a back and forth motion. Very pleased with the end result as my parsley was pretty uniform in size which waa a huge change from cutting it with a knife

If you're like me, you could find something better to do with your time than chop herbs. So, I tried this gadget. Honestly, for the price, it's okay. I most often end up with whole leaves or bigger chunks, but it's still more efficient than me chopping myself. The blades aren't sharp enough and there's not enough motion to get a good mince. But it's okay for what you pay.

Great in theory, but not so much in execution. You'll get a few minces of your herb but then everything just ends up smooshing together and not coming out the end. It's hard to get the herbs back out to salvage too, after unsuccessfully trying to mince them. A pain to clean as well. I had high hopes for this but it's just not useful. I'm surprised that there are so many good reviews..

I have purchased another herb grinder that was absolutely useless (everything fell right through. When this one arrived and I looked at the bottom, my first thought was "here we go again". I was very wrong. After washing the mill and the cilantro, I spun the cilantro dry and pulled out the plunger. I pushed a good amount of the cilantro inside the mill and gently pushed down the plunger (not to crushing point) and began turning ... started working immediately and worked like a charm. I found that rather than just using a circular motion (all in one direction) that it worked especially well when I went back and forth. It was easy and the resulting milled herbs were perfect. I was a bit concerned about clean up .. I shouldn't have been ... pull off the blades and rinsed them in hot water and set out to dry and washed the rest of the unit. You don't have to remember which blade goes in first because the one closest to the plunger has a little leaf shaped spindle that only fits the first blade ... other one sits in the base unit. Thrilled with this!
