I've been making use of sharps containers for quite some time to dispose of small medical-use needles used by family members, and these Medical Sales Supply quart-sized containers are good enough, providing additional convenience for travel when space is limited. For size comparison, some might be interested in my photo, which shows one of these quart-sized containers next to a two-quart-sized container from Dynarex. Disregard the other reviewer here who mentioned that these sharps containers are "not heavy duty", because sharps containers are all basically the same regardless of vendor. This same reviewer also commented that "with any sharps container, the big cost is in their disposal", but cost is going to depend on local ordinances. For example, my area of the US permits disposal of sharps containers in the regular trash with no additional cost, and the same goes for use of substitute durable plastic containers with screw-top lids (e.g. laundry detergent bottles), as long as lids are secure.

Sharps containers are always something I keep on hand, as I've had a family member living with me who was diabetic, and I like to be prepared. The biggest problem with most sharps containers is the size. They are big, bulky, and obnoxious if you're traveling. Do you take the giant one, or do you skip taking one and pray you can find one when traveling? Take these! These are absolutely perfect for that, and I'm impressed. They will fit easily in a larger purse, a suitcase, or even put it in the trunk of your car while on the road. If you're into emergency preparedness and wanting these to add to your preps and medical supplies, this would be what I would recommend to add to a first aid kit.

I have an injection which is an entire injection pen, so it’s far more bulky than the standard needle. I ordered these because I filled my other sharps container. They do the job, but the container tapers in towards the top, so I lose some storage space with the injection pens. I was able to finagle about 6 Injection pens into the container and get it to close. The containers are sturdy, lid snaps on well, and it feels secure overall, which is the most important part!

I got these sharps containers to discard injection needles after giving our horses routine injections. The actual container is of good quality. The plastic is hard, so needles shouldn’t be able to poke through. The lid however, needs some work. It is difficult to close and even when closed, leaves a gap. It doesn’t seal entirely, so I would be a big concerned about sharps spillage if it is knocked over. Overall, good for a barn or a low-traffic area where needles aren’t disposed of daily, but perhaps should be improved for a high-use sharps container.

1qt containers are smaller than most and these are not heavy duty — neither do they come with return boxes and labels. If you put used pens into them, they will fill up fast but for lancets and pen needles, the size is ok.With any SHARPS container, the big cost is in their disposal. If you have a local recycling program where you can drop them off for free (as I do), these are ideal. If you don’t, these are not the containers you want. There are other SHARPS containers available with return boxes and prepaid labels.
