We ordered this to help keep something connected to the side of our stove. I had tried to think of what we could use and I thought of museum gel! It didn't work for what we needed, however we were hoping it would hold something sideways (vs on a flat surface like a desk or table) but I believe it would have held if it were on a flat surface, which is why I am leaving it with 4 stars.

So far this is working great. A little goes a long way. I used it to hold some trinkets in place in a clear boxes. Even after handling the feel, it clears back up.

The first thing I’ll say is my cautionary tale. We brought this in from freezing weather where it had been left upside down. I started opening the inner seal and realized the gel was gooped onto it and it was going to be a mess to pick off, so I left it open to let everything settle to the bottom. Initially the smell wasn’t great (reminded me of my work as a nail tech), but over time it was really bad. So - use as intended, just get what you need out and put the lid back!I am using the gel to hold down some decorative pieces on my work desk (glass/crystal on metal, and wood on wood) so I don’t keep accidentally shoving them around. I used the included dose card to determine how much to use, but still ended up with some spilling out around my pieces (picture 1), maybe due to how cold the gel still was when I used it. It was easy enough to scrape off the excess and neaten the area (picture 2), and the pieces haven’t moved since (which is the important part).I think after we get through this jar (probably never, it’s a lot!), I’ll probably go back to museum putty since I haven’t noticed any smells with that form of this chemical.

I love this stuff. It is so nice to be able to stick down things that are slippery. I was recommended to buy this stuff after we had a little earthquake and some stuff was broken. I haven't been able to test it in another earthquake but it's nice not to worry about things sliding off the tabletops and things if you bump the cabinet wrong. Use less than needed, as it kindof "melts" out. it is not super sticky at first, but then after a few hours it is sticky, so be patient and use less than needed. It is not strong enough to hold cords on the wall or anything, I had to try, but for keeping glass bottles and containers on shelves, it is perfect.

I am a ceramic artist and this removable gel gives me peace of mind when displaying my work. It is clear, reusable, and perfect for holding small ceramic and glass sculptures. Clients don't have to worry about accidentally knocking over my work when they visit my studio. It also protects the integrity of my work by not leaving any traces when removed.
