The screws themselves seem much smaller than you would use in a typical wood deck construction, but I guess this is normal with compostite decking becase you don't have to penetrate the boards, just hold them down to the joists.they seem like they will do the trick. No major complaints or issues.

Got these to use for replacing an older deck. While it's specifically designed and made to be used with composite wood decking that comes with grooves on the sides, you can work around this with other traditional lumber if you're willing to spend the time with your router to put grooves in the wood you're using. I'm doing this for a small deck and don't mind the extra work, though on a big project it could be more of a factor. The great advantage of these plastic clips is you won't get the rotting or corrosion you might with metal clips (the screw is metal) and of course, you have no surface nail heads to come loose and tear up the bottom of your sneakers or sandals. The clips work below the surface of the boards in the spaces between them giving the finished deck a clean surface without depressed areas for water to collect and cause rot.I'll be pulling the old boards off the deck in the spring, putting tape on the tops of the support structure and adding new wood to that. Between the tape and these new clips I expect this rebuilt deck to last a lot longer than the old one did.
