I ordered this linear actuator as a Z Axis for my custom home built CNC Router. I arrived on time, was packaged reasonably well, and functioned properly right out of the box. Interior padding in the box was a little less than adequate as the package had been dropped and there was minor damage on one of the corners which did not affect the function. I will say that the overall design of the actuator is excellent. Form and fit of all components are virtually perfect and there were not burrs or blemishes on the unit, except for the small dented corner.The NEMA 23 motor installed is a bit small. I mounted a 1.5kw air cooled spindle and the smaller motor had a bit of trouble lifting it rapidly. Also, the drive cable had non-standard wiring colors so that had to be figured out with a meter and then tested for direction.I had to mill an adapter plate to mount the actuator on to 4 SBR20UU linear bearings and the M6 t-nuts that are on the back of the unit held very tight, but were a bit difficult to access. The depth of the slot where the t-nuts are is fairly shallow so I had to turn down the M6 screws to get a good fit that didn't bottom out. Also, there are t-nut slots on either side with M3 t-nuts for mounting things on the side if you desire. These are not pictured in the ad but came in handy for mounting the cable chain and the dust curtain for the Y axis. I had to mill an additional adapter plate to mount the spindle as the holes provided didn't match the spindle mounting flange. I suppose the intent was to use a round spindle instead of a square body spindle. I used .625 white Delrin for the two adapter plates which offset the spindle forward 1.25 inches. You can see both of the plates int the provided photos. I would have liked to see an appropriate sized Y axis actuator with the same design characteristics available and I surely would have purchased one.Overall, the quality, function, form, and fit of this actuator is excellent. It is well built, well shielded, and very attractive as well. This was one of only two actuators I found that were adequately shielded for dust, and this one had the thinnest body which is why I chose it.I am well pleased with this unit and I would highly recommend it with the understanding that there will be a bit of work involved in mounting it. Great product.
