Finally with the snow having meted i decided to run this through the grass and see if it works as it says. It does pick up just about every nail, bolt, screw etc it could find. Magnets being around the entire block definitely helped and they are strong. It's easy and straight forward to use however the quick release is not truly quick. You pull up then push down with no real leverage and the big pieces of metal fall off but smaller ones get pushed down towards the bottom of the block never really coming off. It's a decent length for someone shorter. I'm 5'9 and it was like using a cane for me so dragging it works but I think anyone taller would appreciate a longer shift or the ability to extend it if that were an option.

Yes it's a magnet, and when you pull the handle (a rather awkward 2 handed process) about 80% of the attracted material kinda falls off but a bunch attaches itself to tue side of the walls as well and DOES NOT RELEASE. I'M doing a bunch of grinding amd welding in my garage so the majority of what I'm collecting is metal filings from cutting andt he broken off tips of used wire wheels. The tool seems very durable and well.painted but really could use some form of rollers to help it glide across the floor. The way it is designed you have to manually make it 'float' across the floor (or drag it i suppose)

I ordered this sweeper for indoor/outdoor work in the shop and on site.I like the 10" width of the magnet head. It is a little different than some other sweepers because the magnetic head is a steel box rather than a flat bottom surface. It will pick up small nails and parts all over the box head. It is also strong enough to go behind the workbench for a dropped wrench or hammer. Still, the concentration of magnetic power is more in the center of the bottom. Dragging it through grass shows most of the pickup power is in the bottom. It is strong enough to easily support itself hanging handle down from a metal heater duct. The T-handle is about the right length to use as a walking cane, meaning it can be comfortably be used without bending over, but not truly long enough to rake about. The quick release is a bit different. The T-handle must be pulled back to release any objects from the box head, and there is no secondary handle to grip against. I have to put my foot on the box and pull back on the spring-loaded handle. This will release large objects, but smaller objects, such as washers or metal filings do not completely release and must be scraped off by hand while pulling back on the spring-loaded hand grip. This is because the magnet retracts from the bottom, but not from the sides, and the sides of the box continue to be magnetic.I find the sweeper very useful. A little bit of design improvement on the release mechanism would make it easier to use.

Oh ... I LiKe iT. Very convenient - the handle is about 3 feet long - and spring loaded. There is a T handle hold at the top end - opposite the magnetic head. You hold the T handle and walk around with the magnetic head just slightly off the ground - the magnet sucks up any ferrous metal. ie. screws, nails, washers ... Pull the spring loaded handle and the magnet releases your booty. The magnet had no problems picking up an approx. 5 pound chunk of steel - it would not pick up a small BBQ propane bottle. That is plenty strong enough for this device to function properly. If the magnet is too strong it would be inconvenient to use around large magnetic stuff (Machinery for example). I've used it to do a quick preliminary clean up on a mill table and a metal lathe - It is awesome - quite convenient - worth the price of Admission.5 Stars for The Zeluga 10-239 Handheld Magnet Sweeper with Quick Release ~ Thanks for Reading – Have an Incredible Life! ~

Better than the AJC hand magnet. Great quality and works great.

This magnet is great. I have a wheel magnet that works great in smoother surface (driveways floors and small rock) but drags through rougher surface outdoors. This hand held magnet did way better than I expected. I tested it by placing nails into the top layer of rough rock and it pulled them out ever time even when an inch or more above the rough surface.Wish the handle was slightly longer but just brook the task into sections and gave my arm and back a little rest as I went along. And yes I tired dragging it thru the rocky stuff as well and it never dropped a nail doing it that way.Very good solution for what I needed to accomplish.
