Puller and Pusher Design

Puller fans mount on the engine side (back) of the radiator core and pull air through the radiator core. The fresh airflow is pulled through the grille, then pulled through the core, and exits out the back side of the radiator. Puller fans are the desired and most common way of mounting a fan when space is not a limitation between the front of the engine and the back of the radiator core.

Pusher fans mount on the grille side (front) of the radiator core and push air through the radiator core. Fresh airflow enters through the grille, then is pushed through the radiator core, and exits out the back side of the radiator. Pusher fans are used typically where there is a limited amount of space for a properly sized puller fan.

Got this to provide air circulation for trans cooler being used to cool a small high pressure air compressor used for Pcp rifles. Had to purchase a power converter to use it but all together makes a great system

This was easy to install, quiet, and it moved a ton of air but it failed after 2 riding trips. I am not sure what failed, but if you jiggle the wires going into the motor it will cut in and out, but won't stay on. I used it on my sxs to pull excessive heat from the engine compartment. It didn't get wet, but it did sit by the engine and pushed air out of the side of the machine. I will be buying a different brand.

I bought this fan to build a “redneck air conditioner” to use on our pontoon boat. In the photo, there is tape around the hole I cut in the cooler, but it’s not to hold the fan in place. There are screw holes that are perfect for mounting the fan. I reversed the fan blade, and reversed the wire polarity so that it would blow down into the cooler. The fan does this job very well, and keeps my wife cool. It makes a little more noise than would be ideal, but not so much as to be annoying. After all, it was designed to be under the hood of a vehicle! Puts out plenty of air, and does its job. Just one point to add: if you do this, make sure you have a second battery on your boat. You don’t want to try starting your engine after being anchored for a while to find you ran your battery has run down!

It beats spending $600 at the dealer and 2 of the factor bolts lined up and it was plug and play for the 2015 Kawasaki 4010 mule kaf620. I did have to use one of the thru zip ties on the bottom though.
