My 3yo loves this set, especially the corner mountain tunnel piece! The tracks are sturdy and prefer the support beams with this over the wooden Brillo ones. I like that it comes with a few lengths and angles for the straight and corner pieces. I think these would fit with the Brillo tracks too if you were looking for a cost effective way to expand your set.It comes with a lot of “stuff,” like the construction and farm items which my son of course loves but as a parent I could do without lol but they are nice additions to help “set the scene.”

I have purchased train cars and track from many different vendors - Brio and Thomas are the main ones and many knockoff / non-brand suppliers so I know a lot about quality track and cars. Overall other than the track, you are getting "Dollar Store" specials for everything else - nothing really nice. THIS SET SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A BARGAIN BASEMENT, although pretty large, INTRODUCTORY SET.Track: All the track, besides the up/down tracks, are absolutely identical to most other brands and they are 100% compatible. The up/down tracks are plastic, which is a new one for me, but they are also completely compatible.Mountain/Bridge: The Mountain is two-piece plastic that is pretty thin. The bridge is a plastic construct with wood track. These two pieces are not a bad addition as I like the option of adding in some height to your playset and they also give your elevated track stability.Elevated Track Supports: These are all plastic and are pretty cheap. Because of the small base area, unless you have a very flat surface underneath them, they won't be worth a whole lot. Most supports I have are either wood or two-piece plastic with a large base.Cars (that go on the track): These are the cheapest cars/engines that I've ever gotten. The wheels do not spin very well and the cars are light weight and don't travel on the track very long-distance w/o needing another push. I was going to add the train cars and police and ambulance to my current wooden track set, but they are so cheaply made I threw them back in the box.Other Cars/Ships/Toys: Most of the other playing parts are small and pretty cheaply made. Meaning these are the kinds of toys I would expect to see at Dollar Tree or other major discount stores. They are not anything special. The farmyard fence needs to be on a very flat surface or it will tip over.Crane: This is a very cheap plastic crane. The gear does not work very well and the magnet is very weak. Unless you are using both hands, it does not work very well.Playmats: The construction yard, farm, and port are basic plastic printouts. Nothing special, but the color palettes are nice and bright.So overall I was not super impressed. I still gave this product 3 stars on the strength of the wooden track, the bridge, and the tunnel, which are worth probably $35-$40 alone - if sold separately. Because the entire rest of this set is really only worth about $15 maximum, you are probably getting about what you pay for. However, this set should not be considered getting a super bargain. If I were you, once your kids have broken all the cheap plastic toys, I'd keep the track and upgrade to better trains and other add ons.

When I was a kid, snap trains were essentially the highlight of my early childhood because we got to play with them sans adult "supervision." The Lionel trains? Not so much (wish I still had 'em!). No, these aren't snap trains, but the concept is very similar.With grand kids who like to build things and a grandson who will endeavor to run all of his variety of cars on tracks regardless if they fit, this is a nice set to satisfy both preferences. You get plenty of track and, along with it, plenty of flexibility in designing your layout. While the accompanying accessories aren't the greatest quality, most young kids won't notice or even care. A bit pricey perhaps? Probably, but it melds great with similar sets already in our toy collection and provides a great way to get down on the floor with the kids and have some fun.One note of caution: lots of small objects that could present risks for little ones still inclined to "taste" everything, so keep that in mind. Four stars.

My son loves this train track set! We got this for him to add tracks to what he already has from another brand and the tracks fit together easily. Lots of great additional decorative pieces and allows for lots of creativity with the mountain and bridges.

Good starter set. First off, if you have children 2 and under, or kids that still put things in their mouths, you may want to remove the smaller pieces from this set upon opening. It's very similar to thecM&D train set, and the TTT sets, I can't say if they're compatible because we no longer have those. There are lots of building options in this set, and the pieces are easy for kids to link. It's much easier to store than the larger plastic GTrax sets. Decent starter set for the price!

7th birthday approved! I had concerned he was going to be too old for his first train set but so far this train has been good. I went ahead and got two sets because I could get that cheaper than an expansion.He has brought his tractors and construction equipment and Legos as accessories and is playing with it daily.I did find a used set on swap shops to supplement track switches and other random pieces. I do suggest getting a battery operated train the kids like to watch that and race or push with it.

We have tons of IKEA wood train tracks so that is why I ordered these in hopes they work together and they do. I mainly wanted this set for more city pieces such as signs, cones, people and such.Cons: there are plastic pieces with this set and a lot of them are very thin cheap plastic.

I just gave this to my daughter today and she had a lot of fun with it. The pieces are all well built (solid/sturdy), it comes with a lot of extras like a barn, dock and construction setting with cars and accessories to go with it. There’s a 4 piece train that has a car she can put cargo in and another that can be lifted off and on with the magnetic crane. School bus, and emergency wooden vehicles for the track. Comes with a bridge and tunnel. The box has a detailed map of the build for two different style tracks. All around it’s a nice set that will keep your kids entertained.
