These containers could store a variety of items from food to screws, and it's nice the lids are not detachable. I bought them for my husband's shop. he's disassembling a large WW II lathe and likes the fact he can use the jars as he takes it apart to store various small parts and see through the jar to find what he wants later. Great for crafts too. I like glass and metal lids and would like to find this size jar in those materials, but I'm pretty happy with these in the interim.
